Would you consider going for two?

If you score a TD on the opening drive of a game?

Coaches are becoming more aggressive in offensive play calling.

Going on fourth down etc. more often.

I think this could be a good strategy.

Worst case scenario you are up 6-0.

Best case 8-0 and putting pressure on the other team.

Also if up 8-0, you could go for two again and worst case scenario 14-0 or best case 16-0.

no, you do it only if you "have to"

such as your kicker sucks or is injured and the kick is only 50/50 chance. i think 2 point conversion plays only work like 5% of the time so.......

Hot take topic of the day. Random man is random. And the answer is no. This is why you employ a defense to take the field.

Honestly I'd be really interested to see where teams would have to go for 2 after TDs.

For what it’s worth, I don’t believe in going for two unless it’s very late in the game and a desperate situation.

Many coaches go for two way too early in a game.

This was just a thought on a different approach.

I read that NFL teams converted 60% of 2 point conversions in 2018.

I think I read that correctly.

Yes. It’s 95% on kicks (so 0.95 points per attempt) or last year was 60% on conversions (1.2 points per attempt).

Would be interesting to see a larger sample size from a single play caller over a season

I think 2 pt conversion percentage will increase as analytics makes it's way into the NFL.

Nfl teams successfully scored a two pt conversion 60% of the time. You should go for it first score.

I like the random man thing.

Not with a kicker as good as ours. I do feel confident anytime we have to go for two though having Kamara, Ingram, and Thomas all as options for two yards.

That guy in Arkansas, says the odds are better if you go for it on 4th down, always go for 2 and on-side kick. He wins a majority of the time. He says most coaches punt when they shouldn't.

I have been waiting for either a pro or college team to fully commit to the going for 2 every time strategy.

All you have to do is convert 51% of them and it is a net positive for your team. I'd like to see if it is possible for a team to convert at that rate.

OP is right that it could make the other team panic a bit and next thing you know, they are going for two but haven't practiced it as much as you have so they won't be as good at it.

Eventually someone will try this and we will see if it is actually a viable plan.

Yes, I would also Onside kick 50% of time and go for it on anything less than 4th and 4.

Scouting will be important also. Some teams aren’t very good at defending the 2 point play and should be taken advantage of.
