I had to take it as part of a job interview this year. I was told no one ever finishes it , just do your best. I completed it before the time limit and actually answered all 50 questions. Fairly certain score was in the 40 to 45 range.

There seems to be a sort of smartness threshold, where the best NFL quarterbacks need to be at least this smart to see success. But once a QB passes that threshold (around a score of 25), their additional smartness has little to no effect on success on the field.

QBs that made lower than 25:

Bret Favre
DeShaun Watson
Derek Carr
Michael Vick
Trent Dilfer
Daunte Culpepper
inny Testaverde
Dan Marino - 16
Terry Bradshaw - 16
Jim Kelly - 15
Steve Mcnair
Donovan Mcnabb
Jeff George

Also as a note: Frank Gore scored a 6... six..

Overrated evaluation for pro players. It doesn’t mean nothing.... but it doesn’t mean very much either

It's not even very accurate when looking at QBs.

Kaep scored pretty damn high and still struggled mightily reading defenses. Marino scored fairly low and is a HoF.

Kaep scored 9 points higher than Brees, who is constantly lauded for how quickly he processes things and how quick he gets through reads.

Something below a 12 is troubling at QB, but outside of that it really doesn't mean jack.

Scores

There's a ton of scores.

Ray Lewis, who read offenses extremely quickly and shot to the ball constantly, scored a 13. Blaine Gabbert scored a 42.

How would you rather on your team?

Torry Holt scored an 11. I've always heard him lauded about how football smart he was and how he would read what the defense was doing and change his route.

Reggie Wayne scored a 13. I mean I can keep going but there are numerous examples of guys with low scores that were known for diagnosing plays quickly.

Edit:
And this has nothing to do with Jackson. I honestly have not looked into the draft this year and have no idea if this kid is good or not.

Just pointing out how much of a joke freaking out over Wonderlic scores is.

I think it's mostly meaningless for pro athletes. I would expect the data to support that as well. I recently took Wonderlic about 2 years ago and scored 34 without any preparation - and actually was a little buzzed. Most of the questions test cognitive reasoning skills and IMO have really no translation to athletic success. I imagine if I was 23yo again and prepared to test, I would have scored 99th percentile, but it wouldn't have any impact on my ability to throw a football. Same goes for professional athletes, their 40 time would have zero prognostication of their ability to be a doctor, engineer, etc.

I question the accuracy of these results when they can't even copy/paste correctly. The have Brees graduating from LA Tech, in the 3rd round of the 2004 draft at the 106th pick. Everyone knows he went to Purdue, and was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2001and was the 32nd pick.

Oddly enough, the 106th pick in the 2004 draft, was Luke MCCown from LaTech So, did they get the Brees as the Saints starting QB wrong, or everything else about Brees wrong?

EDIT: My understanding is it measures your ability to take in a lot of information and make decisions (pick the right answers) quickly. So it matters a lot for QBs, maybe not so much for defensive players who just have to be really good at blowing things up on instinct

Yep. That's why prospects don't get the normal amount of time to take it.

I'd want to see the test, not just the score. If a guy spent a lot of time working out a single problem instead of skipping it, it's the equivalent of throwing into triple coverage.

Not that helpful. Outside the qb position, I’d toss it out. So much of football is about instincts, especially on the defensive side of the ball because they have to read and react to the offense.

hard to believe Marino dropped like he did in the draft. I doubt Wonderlic scores had much to do with it.

Kelly was pick #14 and Marino was #27. Imagine if Marino had been picked by Buffalo instead.

"Somebody" floated rumors about him being a coke addict right before the draft, which back then was harder to really dig into quickly and allegedly is what caused his fall.

wonder if it was the Dolphins

on the 30-for-30 Elway to Marino, the Steelers had a detective or a private investigator get the low-down on Marino. The findings were that he liked to have a good time but was not a drug abuser. They drafted a defensive tackle who was supposedly some bad arse but he got into a wreck a few months into his rookie year and it ruined his career.
