1.29 Calijah Kancey - DL Pittsburg
2.40 Jahmir Gibbs - RB Alabama
3.71 Hendon Hooker - QB Tennnesee
4.115 Trenton Simpson - LB Clemson
5.146 Jarrick Bernard-Converse CB LSU
5.165 Luke Schoonmaker - TE Michigan
7.227 Ali Gaye - EDGE LSU
7.257 Trey Dean - S Florida

1.29 - Enough explained. We are weak on DL and he is a freak athlete with a very high ceiling
2.40 - Kamara type player, very explosive. Went RB due to the uncertainty of what our RB room looks like and Ak's future
3.71 - Hooker is a really good player. Would be a first round talent if not for the season-ending injury. May be older than most but would be able to develop under Carr for a few years
4.115 - Can develop under Davis and need LB depth. Nothing much behind Davis and Werner
5.146 - Freak athlete with a 42-inch vertical. Can never have too many DBs
5.165 - Big body TE with a 4.6 40. Adds depth.
7.227 - Really underrated player with a big body frame

hooker won't be there at 71 and I think Schoonmaker will be taken sooner as well

I'd be happy with this, but I also think there is a good chance none of these picks are available where you have us taking them.

Jump up and get B. Robinson. Kamara is on the back end and probably looking at time out. The offense needs explosion and he adds another dimension aka Young Kamara.

Not as bad as Jane. But if available in 7th I'd definitely take him

We are in good drafting positions, and there are enough quality players, to not touch a player with any injury issues. Move on. Let's add three players over the first two days that will contribute in 23 and well beyond.

1.29 DT Calijah Kancey: biggest need on the team is a 3-tech DT. He’s the best besides Carter who will still go to 10 even with the off-field issues.

2.40 DE Keion White: versatile DE who can kick inside on pass downs if needed with the Saints size/weight preference. Could be Cam Jordan’s eventual successor on the left side.

3.71 RB Devon Achane: Kamara isn’t getting any younger and will miss time this season too. No RB in this draft has Achane’s skill set. I wanted to put Tyjae Spears here but just couldn’t overlook Achane’s big play ability.
*****Really wanted to put Siaki Ika here but he may be only a 2 down player in the NFL and my next pick has the potential to be a 3 down DT.

4.115 DT Jacquelin Roy: We need several more bodies at DT and Roy could one day be the big man compliment to Kancey inside. His best ball is ahead of him.

5.146 S Jay Ward: no intention of putting 2 LSU guys together but I did it anyway. Ward is the playmaking, hard hitting physical young safety that we really need in order to begin to move on from Maye and Mathieu.

5.165 WR Charlie Jones: Great hands and route running ability coming off a monster year and can play special teams as gunner or returner. Lined up outside and the slot for Purdue.

7.227 QB Clayton Tune: Smart project QB that you’d be happy if developed into a trusted backup like Chase Daniel. Doesn’t have a huge arm or lots of speed to run but made good decisions and was a 4 year starter and team captain.

7.257 CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse: hope he slides a bit because this would be a steal of a pick. I think his combine numbers get him drafted in the late 5th or early 6th but one can still hope. High character kid that played with confidence and good technique you’d expect from someone that has played meaningful snaps for 4 years in college.

****I badly wanted to mock LB Drew Sanders or TE Darnell Washington at 40 and OL Cody Mauch at 71 since all are stud players that will most likely start right away wherever they are drafted but I decided to draft on needs more since this team has a lot of holes to plug.

Many mocks have Hooker going in the bottom of first round. He won’t be there in round 3. Gibbs may not be there in 2nd as well.

Nice draft I would take that. JBC is getting the shaft. He killed the pre-draft workout, what’s up with where they are slotting him. Garner from LSU also is slotted way down i like him also.

Garner probably has the better chance of getting drafted because of his size and he can run too but JBC is the better player. There’s a reason Brian Kelly had JBC on the opposing team’s best WR most of the time. He’s smart and is a great man press guy but he also can play zone. Someone is getting a steak with him.
