With DA not getting fired during the mini-bye after a dreadful home loss...

Its clear that he will be given the chance to coach a healthier roster by Loomis before any decisions are made, and Loomis will stick with one of his core philosophies that they are not "reactionary" and are a patient franchise.

Its really what we all expected, but I think we can put to rest any chance of DA being fired until guys like Carr, Hill, Olave, Werner and maybe even McCoy are back, correct?

Personally --- does it matter if he gets fired now or later? Kubiak is not going to be the next HC, too young and inexperienced.

Generally speaking, no. It would "give them a head start" in the coaching market in theory

If you think you have a solid roster that has simply lacked the motivation or trust in the HC, you need to fire your HC ASAP and let the interim inject some new life. The Saints don't fit that description, so IMO it's best to let the ship continue to sink and ruin DA's impeccable coaching record.

This may be true, but if he's going to become a HC he needs to get an opportunity somewhere. And by making him the interim, you get an early preview of judging him and the other intangibles and "look beyond the results"

What do you hope to gain out of DA being fired today?

Personally satisfaction? Thats go to be it. That's the only thing that could possibly result in his being fired on 10/21/2024.

Yeah if the FO thought there was ever any chance of Kubiak being the HC this would of been the perfect time for a look.

PS
No way Loomis would ever fire DA during the season. Zero chance.

While I don't disagree, sometimes it can blunt his growth elsewhere (i.e. playcalling and being an OC). I think that's the problem with guys like Kingsbury -- MASTERCLASS of an OC right now. but making him the HC may have been a huge mistake early on.

I can see that. This could also be where the co-interim HC titles come into play. You have your OC be the HC for prep during the week, but also let him completely focus on the offensive side of the ball during the games and have a guy like Rizzi be the game-day guy, but also involved in the input during the day-to-day stuff. Both get their looks by the Saints front office, but also don't give enough "tape" for the rest of the league to see

Obviously, we're just spit balling hypotheticals as it appears Loomis won't do anything during the season. Or at least giving DA the mini-bye to make some changes before week 12?

I am as loyal to the Saints as it gets. Would be tailgating and in the Dome whether we are 10-0 or 0-10, don't care. That being said, after this season I will not be attending games until there is a new coach. I will be list my tickets to every game before the season and idgaf if they get sold or go unused. It's obvious that Mickey and Gayle don't give a frick about winning if a change is not made.

If DA was 2-5, with two of those wins being nail biters, he would already be gone. The fact that his healthy team was operating at a historically all time level before getting decimated by injuries is enough for Mickey to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Also likely means they’re not going to trade away anybody with value.

Ehh. Seems like quite a few teams are operating at historical levels against the cowboys and panthers this year.

I would still give Kubiak an audition by appointing him interim coach.

Too many injuries and time running out for us to do the signature DA late season wildcard teaser rally so i think they’re letting him go down with the ship and we’ll wind up something like 5-12 and have a decent pick they’ll use on some project OL.
