Its been several years since the Dome was the Dome. Tickets have been going for 20 bucks, opposing fans have taken it over several times, and the crowds have been very listless at best.

That is not that fans' fault, the team has just been so mediocre for years that its sucked the life out of the fandom, and in particular, the Saints have been unusually bad at home for a couple of years, and better on the road.

Will the past two weeks inject some bigtime life into the crowd vs a good Eagles team?

It might be the best environment we’ve had since 2019. The city will be out in full force

It was pretty lively for the Panthers game. Next Sunday should be a vintage crowd

best atmosphere in 5 years, this should be expected. Should have game of the week hype and we’re still not getting respected. Vegas has Eagles favored and they’re traveling and on a short week when they come to the dome.

The hype will be unreal. I almost feel bad for the Eagles.

Almost.

They're going against the best team in the league and have to play the best qb and rb in the league. They are totally fricked.

This fanbase is hungry and excited, no doubt the dome will be deafening. Last week I saw the starting price for Eagles tickets was double digits, now the cheapest I can find is around 166.

While obviously not on par with the 2006 Atlanta game because of unprecedented circumstances, the build up to the 3rd game feels much the same. I think it is reasonable to say the anticipation and expectations leading up to this season were the lowest since 2006. Yes, there was a new HC in Payton. Yes people were happy to see the Saints were going to stay in New Orleans. Yes, people were excited to see Reggie Bush. But the expectations for a winning season, let alone "good" season were almost non-existent with the Saints coming off an awful year in 2005 (on and off the field). The hope was in 2006 that a new HC/QB could start building up to maybe a good team in a few years. Then the Saints, kind of unexpectedly, won the first two games. That made what was already going to be a big night that much bigger because fans begin to think "Hey. Maybe this team could be good."

This offseason was the most apathetic in nearly 20 years. The Saints spent training camp well out of sight in California. There were no real attention grabbing FA additions. Chase Young was probably the most noteworthy. But even he was seen as an oft-injured player who was declining from his #2 pick status. Everyone was done with the QB. Even more were done with the HC. Most went into the season thinking it was largely a waste of time. The Saints would be good enough to not get a top pick, but bad enough to have no noteworthy results.

Now, for the first two weeks of the season the Saints have to the surprise of everyone been the best team in the NFL. It's kind of that 2006 feeling again of "wait a minute. Is this team pretty good?"

Yes, it is fun to be a contender year after year. But sometimes its even more fun when the unexpected happens. Two weeks in the feeling of belief is starting to creep into the fanbase. While the Dome won't 100% be "back", it's probably going to be as close to that as it was since 2018/2019.

The Saints just beat the absolute shite out of the Cowboys while having a hurricane hitting during the week.

Dome will be electric

If the Saints give a similar performance as they did when the Pats came to town in 2009, the top might pop off of the place.

You're going to see a great atmosphere in the Dome this Sunday.

And by the way, it might surprise you to hear that the Dome was rocking in the Game 1 blowout of Carolina. I don't want to overstate things, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the fans' enthusiasm and the absence of empty seats in Game 1 given the lukewarm (at best) predictions for the season. If the crowd was that good (say, a solid B or even B+) against Carolina, I don't think there is any doubt it will be rocking this Sunday.

You were probably focusing on drafting up your “we need to tank” thread that didn’t get posted

I doubt it, I really don't believe in tanking because the draft is generally extremely overrated.

I've always dreamed of the Saints winning the Super Bowl and they did

My next dream would be for the Saints to play in the Super Bowl in New Orleans
I know it's way too early but it would be Mardi Gras on steroids

Everyone all over the city is pumped up again for this team

Plus, we all already hate the Eagles

Atmosphere in the Dome Sunday will be epic and insane
