Why what NFL draft analysts say should be taken with a grain of salt
LINK

Truth is no one really knows how any of these guys will pan out. I hope Winston turns around his career though and does so for the Saints.

This thread is not going to go the way that you expected it to.

Jameis Winston

Weaknesses
Decision making not consistent with his football intelligence
Will throw into impossible windows rather than taking safe throw underneath
Elongated windup and release allows instinctive defenders to close on throws
Was too easily baited into dangerous throws
Struggled with intermediate passing game in 2014, completing 56.8 percent of his passes with FBS-leading 11 interceptions in that range
Still learning nuances of position and how to move and hold defenders with his eyes
Would sleepwalk through first half of many games
Inconsistent footwork and weight transfer caused balls to sail
Prone to emotional outbursts on field
Quality of decision-making drops off substantially when pocket becomes turbulent and he's forced to leave it
Lacks athleticism to extend plays for very long outside of the pocket
Off-the-field character and ability to lead on NFL level are his primary obstacles, according to NFL evaluators

grain of salt you say huh...

I think Winston is going to surprise a lot of people this upcoming season. I have very high hopes for him.

Talent is definitely there, it always has been. Has he matured and learned to take care of the football remains to be seen.

People keep pointing to his turnovers while he was in Tampa, but when he was there he had poor offensive coaching and a poor offensive line. I think it would be safe to say that at least half of those INTs wasn't even his fault with either the pressure hitting him, deflected passes, and the ball bouncing off of his receiver hands. Despite that he still managed to throw over 5,000 yards that year.

With Winston having a year to learn under Brees and Sean Payton, the offense will go back to being explosive again because we'll be able to push the ball down the field.
