Why is there such an obvious refusal to run the ball?

I still don't understand this one bit. We weren't getting that many yards but we have lost all situational awareness.

5 straight pass plays when you're at your 5 yard line or less?
You're down on your own ten and you just need to run some clock out and you go 3 and out and take less than 20 seconds off the clock?

Brees threw the ball 52 times today, that is never a formula for success. We left 8 points on the board settling for FGs over TDs and that continues to bite us in the arse. I'm just utterly tired of going 4 or 5 wide when it's 3rd and 2.

That's my point though. When you're down on nearly your own 5 yard line, running the ball at least 2 out of 3 times take at least a min and a half off the clock even if you go 4 yards instead of only about 20 seconds. Not to mention the almost too and pick that would have sealed the deal much earlier.

Whoa.
Ok, I understand wanting to run more, usually.

But today, we made the right moves.
GB's secondary could not keep up at all with Brees and his receivers.
And our pass protection was great.

But Pierre Thomas averaged 1.6 yards per carry and Ingram got like 2.2.
Our OL did nothing to help the run.

We ran as much as we needed to in this game.

If Payton were here, Thomas doesn't hold!!!

Sproles doesn't drop that pass!!!

It seemed like GB was always crowding their linebackers up to the line of scrimmage to stop the run. Not sure why because Brees was burning them all game long.

Mark INgram is a 100% gaurenteed 2 yards every time he touches the ball. Ever single mother fricking time.

1st down on the 2 - Shotgun incomplete.
2nd Down on the 2 - Shotgun Incomplete.
3rd down on the 2 - Singleback incomplete.

I mean if you try and fail thats one thing, but to never try is just frustrating. RedZone Offense is the biggest problem area on this team right now. It's the reason we lost that game.

I would have liked us to try something with sproles inside the 5, but they were stuffing us on the run all day

Our 2nd best(maybe best) pure running back isn't allowed to suit up on gameday.

One good thing about the poor running is that the local media will continually bring up the issue with the coaching staff. And they know the running stats haven't been up to par.

At some point they will have to take the chance on Ivory just for the sake of trying something different. The running stats aren't good just because we don't run the ball enough, they aren't good because we aren't effective running the ball just yet. We will be forced into utilizing different backs and mixing up play calls.
