I've already said what I think. I think Mingo is the next DeMarcus Ware.

Im still baffled on how little weight he added during his three years at LSU.

high metabolism. He'd gain in the offseason, but couldnt keep it on during the season. From reports, he'd lose anywhere between 10-15 lbs. He finished the 2011 season at 229 reportedly.

Eh. He is long and fast. If he were a little stronger/heavier he'd have all the pass rushing tools. 2 of 3 ain't bad.

if his body was ideal, people would be moving WR's to DE/LB in droves. Think about it, he's built like a big WR(think COlston)

quote:

This will hurt him and if that doesn't change then it will keep him from being an every down LBer.

If he was 2"-3" shorter at the same weight, he'd be in business

You know, there's a lot of athletic people that ride the bench. I just don't see Mingo as a complete player. You see this every year...some guy with great times...but his technique is "raw", pretty much not developed. He's never played in the 3-4 so it's just a bunch of people projecting what might happen.

LSU made him put his hand in the dirt but for every play he applied pressure, two more found him going lateral or pushed out the box. One reason why people ran right at him. Sure he'll stop them on some sweep play but he never made enough plays at the line against the run.
This is pretty much my opinion. I think he can absolutely be a hell of a 3-4 OLB, but he has never played the position. I am very weary of banking on a guy who has no experience at the position when another guy (Jones) will likely be available and has had much better production at the position we would be drafting him for.

That is entirely too small for a 3-4 Jack LB. If he cannot keep the weight on, that is an issue.

he lost weight between 2011 and 2012 but it was supposedly because of a nerve injury in one arm from a car wreck

His combine numbers are in line with everyone elses. In fact, he's "bigger" than Jordan because he's two inches shorter.

Barkevious Mingo LSU 6-4 241
Dion Jordan Oregon 6-6 248
DeMarcus Ware Troy 6-4 251
Terrell Suggs ASU 6-4 257
Cliff Avril Purdue 6-3 252
Michael Johnson GT 6-7 266
Kamerion Wimbley FSU 6-4 248
Bruce Irvin 6-3 245

Nothing but a bunch of chubby chasers on this board!

Some serious fricking haters on this board. I bet some of you guys jerk off to Dion Jordan but wanna crush Mingo. Ridiculous. I want Jarvis Jones badly, but if the Saints did get Mingo, he's gonna prove some of you fools wrong.

BTW, stoked to see some Saints players hoping for Jones. I hope the FO feel the same.

+1

People love Ansah, but he's got way more question marks than Mingo and Jordan. Jordan and Mingo are virtually the same guy. If you hate all three, I can respect that. They all have issues. I just can't see how you can like Ansah and Jordan and hate Mingo.

He's the smallest one on that list, after after 4 months of strenuous training to put weight on.

A lot of guys drop weight in hopes of quicker times. So It's hard to compare when you have a guy like Mingo trying to gain weight.

Even with that being said, Ware at 251 compared to a near maxed out Mingo simply isn't comparable. That is a huge discrepency- 10lbs

I don't agree with this. One thing that I think teams are intrigued by with Jordan, his experience and ability (and size) in coverage.

He's 7 lbs lighter than Jordan, but he's almost 2 inches shorter. As an OLB, the height of either guy isn't an issue. People are just looking for reasons to explain their hate. Have you seen Jordan's stats?
