What if Spags turns this D around and we become the 2000 ravens and then we lose him due to his success?

Williams was a joke

Yeah totally. He just won us a superbowl, got pressure, got turnovers, forced stops, won games, and helped usher in the golden age of Saints football. People that bash him can GTFO.

After we get another ring? Im fine with that. If we lose to the shittiest team ever in the playoffs the year after he gets us a second ring. I'm fine with that too.

Relax man. Lets wait and see what the saints do this offseason in regards to getting players that fit spag's scheme and see what Payton can do with him. Spags has yet to even coach under the man that hired him.

Yes, he also "just" lost us key playoff games, gave us some of the worst ranked defenses in the league, and oh yeah there was that whole implementing a bounty system and causing all of our current problems thing.

Also, those insulting the personnel don't forget who picked them.

We can't win anymore with just a decent defense. Not with the Texans, Falcons, Broncos, Packers, 49ers, and Bears doing well on both sides of the ball. Give us a real defense and the Saints will be unstoppable.

It's rare to have an elite defense and offense at the same time. It's hard to do during the salary cap era.

All I ask is Spags get us to the middle of the pack. We were 13-3 w/ the 24th ranked d. Realistically we need to be in the middle of the pack.

I truly want to believe in Spags, but I'm very concerned it will take an additional lost season before they'll get rid of him. It would be horrible if we ended up having another season just like this one next year.

extremely debatable

We pretty much went to the playoffs as true contenders every year he was here and won a superbowl. The defense may not have been the best in the league, but do you know how hard it is to have one of the best offenses in the history of the NFL and also have an elite defense. Its damn near impossible in the best of situations.

You mean a completely legal system practiced by most other teams that the NFL blew out of proportion with little evidence at all and proceeded to railroad and gut our team costing us a season. I dont blame that on 3GGG

Scouts? We picked a bunch of high caliber guys they just didnt pan out. It happens.

You cant make chicken salad with chicken shite with these defensive players...If we have more than 6 starters on this defense next year Id be surprised.Time to cut bait with most of them.

I completely agree our punishment was ridiculous. It was still Williams that implemented the system though.

Also, while a reward for a legal hit big enough to take a player out of the game is not the same as a bounty it is still above what other teams did. Someone getting hurt should never lead to a reward.

Yeah i agree we dont have the cream of the crop on D. But the reality of firing over half of our defensive starters is just not one i see happening. Im hopeful some guys can develop under Spags. And some of the players people on here love to hate and rant against really just arent bad. We cant have the best player at every position. It all starts with pressure on the QB. If we can get that, the rest of the D will improve.

You have seen proof of this?

I understand that but cant we have anything that resembles a defense?...Looking at what the free agent market the last few years has done for us seems the Saints is where defensive free agents go to die and ride into the sunset with their fat bank acct.Im hoping SP is watching every game possible with all of his free time and can do some type of majic lol..if hes still the coach here.

He's definitely still the coach here. I pray. If he decides not to come back i will honestly and legitimately cry.

I hear ya dude. I hope we can draft an elite pass rusher and i think it will vastly improve our D.

They testified in court to the definition of "whack" and "cart-off" hits.

LINK

The system they had still was overblown by Goodell though.

Did you read the link you just posted?

quote:

Vilma said that "cart-offs" were clean hits that led to a player missing several players after getting the wind knocked out of them, while "whacks" were clean tackles below the waist and knees.

quote:

When asked by his attornys if Vilma had ever participated in a pay-to-injure program, Vilma said "that is 100 percent false."

I dont see anywhere in there where we have a pay to knock people out of the game due to injury program.
