what time frame do the saints have to do a search to hire a HC?

assuming its NOT going to be dennis Allen, what time frame do the saints have to do a search to hire a HC?
i figure we need a HC in place long before the draft so he can evaluate the team and its needs as well as FA shopping and be ready for the draft and possible trades, even if the GM can handle all that, he shouldnt be doing it, without a HC helping with that.
so with that in mind, and the draft, in mid april i think, means we maybe have roughly at the most 4-6 weeks to wrap things up and have a HC in place?

I don’t know the answer, but there are a lot of HC openings now
So you have to get your guy before somebody else does.
Depending on the HC, Jeff Ireland becomes extremely important.
This will be Mickey Loomis’s biggest decision of his career.

If say we need someone in place by the end of February but in all likely hood Dennis Allen gets named in about 2 weeks

I don't think it's a requirement, but ideally in the next 10 days, because the senior bowl is February 5 and it makes sense to send our coach

Good point. Lots of assistant coach contacts and informal interviews take place at the Senior Bowl.

DA will be announced Tuesday next week. Senior bowl and it’s the super bowl bye week. They’ll let the media talk about the championship games Monday and announce the next day

If its allen it gets announced quick I think. Theyll interview their rooney rule guy in the next few days i imagine and then make it official.
If its not allen hopefully in the next two weeks but who knows.

thats what i wasnt sure of. there are lots of extra things that need to be in place and we havent even thought about the new HC may want different coaches then we have on staff now and that will take some time even if they move very fast
