re: What is all the chatter about mismanagement at the end of the game?

Because they were moving the ball effortlessly in the 4th? Were you watching the game?
Their RB2 was gashing us
Not to mention the injuries to our starting safety and backup MLB

Our problem was scoring with more than about 3 seconds left in the game. Anymore than that and our useless defense will blow it.

Atlanta had the ball on 7 when we turned it over on downs. It’s a different offensive gameplan not to mention the field position game. The time left and TOs all mean more here than it does if Atlanta gets the ball on the 30 after a FG and runs Allegier down our throats to ice the game

Two games in a row we've lost by 3 or less while turning the ball over on downs inside FG range. And in both games your defense didn't allow a single touchdown.
Sometimes you need to take a good long look in the mirror. This team should be 4-0. You take the points when your D is good. Period.

I don't have a issue with going for it on 4th but I do have a issue with playcalling the series before inside the 10. Kubiak is a complete idiot and needs to be attacked by the media.

We got the lead because of his decision you dumb frick
Posted on 9/29/24 at 4:50 pm to Proximo
We could have also gotten a bigger lead and forced them to score a td to win, dumbfrick. DA has proven to be a moron time and time again and some of you jackoffs defend him at every opportunity.

We could have scored 100 and none of this would matter but alas
Posted on 9/29/24 at 5:23 pm to DBG
The 3rd down at 4min and lineup tight and run at 9 in box was dumb.

Let’s fill in that the Falcons offense didn’t score a TD all day. So why are we so concerned with what their field position would be?
Because they didn't need to score. They needed 2 first downs and the game would have been over.
Edit: Regardless on if you kick or go for it, you are asking your defense to make a stop. They didn't, and if we took the 3 points and kicked it, I don't think we stop them from running for 2 first downs.

We need the defense to be elite for this team to challenge for anything meaningful. It’s honestly just an average defense that forces turnovers.

From the 7 yard line I don’t agree. From inside the 2 yes.
I would think the conversion rate for 4th and 7 is in the 30 something percentile. Probably even less with it being 4th and goal, and the area compressed. I thought it was stupid to go for it there.
Posted on 9/29/24 at 7:36 pm to Sofaking2
Correct. 4th & goal at the 7 with our offense is a losing proposition.
Posted on 9/29/24 at 7:42 pm to Townedrunkard
Even less when you consider out offensive personnel.

If we kick the FG the falcons get the ball at their own 30 and not their own 7 and they call a completely different set of plays. They might get two first downs and it’s game. Even if they don’t they’ll punt it and we would’ve have had to go 80 yards for a touchdown.
Going for it is the right move because of exactly what happened. You greatly increase the odds of getting the ball back in good field position
blah blah blah
and we MIGHTA stopped them. and we mighta drove and just got a FG and then won in OT.
and they mighta drove on us after we got stopped and youd be singing a different tune. most times that fails doing what we did.
and we lost anyway

At the end of the game with time left on the clock. We kick the FG in both games and I'd wager we still lose those 2 games because we get into a prevent the win defense.

Unreal that people are arguing to make a one score game, a one score game.
But then will turn around and complain about how the league is overridden with PI calls.
It’s exactly why you do go for it in that situation.
It makes Atlanta more conservative from the 7 than it would at the 30 yard line. On that last drive the saints had Jordan Howden and JT Gray at safety.
Banged up linebackers.
It was the right call
