What could have been with Taysom Hill

Listening to Mike D yesterday evening and he mentioned that early in Taysom career before he became Taysom, Dennis Allen went to CSP and begged him to let him used Taysom as a pass rusher off the Edge.
Obviously nothing came of that but both Mike D and Deuce said with Taysoms speed and suddenness along with his build and power that would have been something. Then Deuce added Taysom has the flexibility to bend and dip that could have made it work.
I don’t ever remember hearing this before but man would have loved to see that.

What could have been, is exactly what was.
He was a unicorn, made a solid career and a ton of money and set some unique NFL firsts. He was never going to be a starting QB or, god forbid, a defensive end.

That he was, just a tough SOB that put it all on the line for the Saints and became one of my all time favorite Saints. Maybe one day he’s inducted into the Saints Ring of Honor, I’m definitely biased in my thinking, but I think he earned it.

I still found the playcalling weird when he was starting. Lots of under center play action, turning his back to the defense. Would have liked to have seen him in something like the Ravens/Bills run with their dual threats.
