Saints will start Jamies this year while Jones sits and learns offense. I think the odds of targeting him in the draft just went up...

PFF put out a stat

Mac Jones lead the country in TDs passes to a WR with a step or more on the defender

35.

That’s 35/41 TDS. Mac Jones isn’t the answer.

Being able to make throws to open guys and choosing to do isn’t the same as not being able to make throws to guys who aren’t open.

I don’t understand how you think that stat discredits Mac Jones lol

I'd rather see them concentrate on the secondary and take a flyer on Shane Buechele with that 133rd pick.

The fact that he only threw 6 TDS to guys who were open to wide open makes does make you wonder if he can.

In his Prime Drew was throwing guys open constantly. We don’t have 2-3 WRs who will just absolutely rape the NFL.

Jones has been throwing to WRs that were wrecking college CBs.

Why would it? That’s a non sequitur.

It wasn’t like he was failing attempts. He was just choosing open dudes. It says literally nothing about his ability to throw into tight coverage

I’m not saying he can or can’t. But that stat doesn’t say it either.

Every time I close my eyes and want to picture a great Mac Jones play, the first thing that flashes in my mind is a pocket formed by an elite o-line and him passing to a wide arse open Devonta Smith

I'm good

I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong suit:

PFF

quote:

The Bama quarterback has thrown an uncatchable ball on just 18.7% of his 10-plus-yard passes, which is over four percentage points better than any other Power 5 quarterback since we began charting QB accuracy and ball location back in 2018.

Further cementing his place at the top is Jones' ability to limit negative plays. One of the most important and stable statistical measures to quarterback play is negatively graded throw rate, and there hasn’t been a better quarterback in that metric this season than the Crimson Tide passer. Not only does he lead all quarterbacks in negatively graded play rate this year, but he also leads every single QB of the PFF College era.

And all of this success isn’t entirely because he has open throw after open throw. He's actually thrown into a tight window on 15.2% of his passes this season, a rate that is about four percentage points higher than Tagovailoa's last season and is nearly double that of Justin Fields (8.3%) this year. Oh, and Jones has also been the most accurate passer on tight-window throws this season — by a large margin.

Any other shite you want to throw against the wall?

I have been of the mind the Saints will take a flyer on Newman in the 3rd, roll the dice and see what they have with Winston for a year before investing serious draft capital in a QB.

So you are going to downgrade him because he had a Heisman receiver

Did you do that for burrow.

Chase and jefferson had a step on a bunch of those tds

Pretty sure I'd get fired after the 3rd round, but I fixed the secondary.

It’s not though.

The guy was carried by his team. He was elevated by his teammates and not vice versa.

Saints draft preferences are almost always highest rated player available on their board and then - secondarily - position of need, which is influenced by their free agent signings prior to the draft. If the Saints sign Winston and keep Taysom Hill, I doubt they sign a quarterback with either of their first two picks, which is likely where Mac Jones will be chosen. I suspect it more likely the Saints look for a cornerback, linebacker, or defensive lineman with their first two picks.

Yeah i understand.

I'm a big burrow fan and I'd take burrow over mac jones everyday of the week but i feel mac jones would kill on this saints team.

He is super smart, doesn't turn the ball over, and has confidence. I love his accuracy and smarts.

He throws a beautiful deep ball and the way he knew every in and out of that bama offense was impressive.

He actually reminds me of burrow with less fire.
