We are trying to make it to the SB. Was there chirping that he was causing issues due to the contract issue?

Well he was refusing to participate in training camp drills so I’m sure the coaches felt they couldn’t rely on him for a game

If he sits out, he isn't going to get paid. You can "sit-in" preseason now, but not regular season.

He was on the field producing in practice and hanging w his teammates.

Maybe a bit pissy w coaches and was dealing w the disrespect of the contract situation but him not playing and producing did nothing to help himself for next contract.

Contracts are about value and worth. He will find out quickly what his worth is when he hits free agency.

I would rather see him walk to know he helped us get to the playoffs then dump him for later draft picks

Its different if its mid season and we are 2-6 SMH

I’m willing to bet there is a Philly deal in place

people here tried to dismiss it but he has the red arse since he found out was part of the deal trying to get watson here.

so while there may not have been bad blood, he certainly had a chip on his shoulder about it. i think he wasnt going to resign here for the money they wanted, so they did what they could by trading him

Maybe because saints didn’t want to deal with the headache and malcontent he was going to be all year

You think it is what he was asking?

He was mentioned as part of that deal in the first place precisely because of the amount of money he wanted. He wants near top safety money and we were not paying him that.

Was he going to sit out? Who knows. Did he play preseason snaps or just show up to practice so he wouldn't get fined?

He wasn't participating in anything he felt he could have gotten hurt doing. Signs point to him sitting out. He wouldn't be losing much to try to make a ton more. This is one of the few cases sitting out made sense.

it'll be closer than what we are. I posted this on 8/3. It probably shows pretty well what saints were offering vs what he wanted, and guess what, my range is 4 mill apart.

9.5-13.5 mill a year is probably the range but this is a strange contract situation. Chauncey is unique in his skillset.

If he gets more than 9 Mill I'll be surprised. A lot will hinge on what he does in Philly.

I guess we could have overpaid CGJ if we had not already overpaid Hill.
