First, I wish to be clear that I'm not one of those anti-jersey jihadists. But this is one reason, I wear team colors or branded shirts other than jerseys. People move on and you're stuck with a former player on your back.

Jeremy Shockey was instrumental in the Saints only Super Bowl season and subsequent victory.

Shockey played with us for three years, which is close to the average career length of an NFL player anyway. He contributed directly to us winning a Super Bowl by scoring a TD in the game. He loved the city too.
Sproles is another guy that was here three years and was part of probably our best team ever. He was really fun to watch in our offense.

Good point, Mountain Tiger. If you're going with guys like that, you're likely to have a "throwback" jersey. I love seeing the City Champ's jersey around the Dome to this day. But you also have players like Shockey and Byrd--not to mention Sharper 
that don't quite reach that level.
