Hopefully this means he's ready to settle.

Yeah, it appears he's def. going to have to do some back peddling now. He is walking a fine line because his actions on this case will probably be used in some way for the major concussion/head injury lawsuit that is going to cause the NFL major problems.

I wonder if he cuts the players some slack on these suspensions if he would also reduce the suspension some for SP? I doubt it.

Wonder how long it will take.

NFLN's Wyche said this could be a "long" hearing, which if the NFL's presenting the 200 pieces of (weak) "evidence" they said last friday they would, then with rebuttals to each piece, it could take a while.

But since this is a kangaroo court with Goodell as judge & jury, I could see this meeting being a mere formality (& short one) and with no significant particpation from the accused. Vilma will probably wait to defend himself until he has his day in a real court.

If he reduces the players suspensions, how does he not reduce Paytons?

Schefter Twitter
quote:

Jonathan Vilma's appeal is over. His attorney Peter Ginsberg, called it a "sham." Ginsberg said NFL declined to turn over new evidence.

Varney tweets:

quote:

Vilma & his legal team say NFL requested adjournment & to reconvene this afternoon. Vilma says no.

In other words, I gave you a chance Goodell, now we're going to a court of law.

Another Schefter tweet:

And now, the other suspended players - Will Smith, Anthony Hargrove, Scott Fujita - also have left NFL headquarters. Not a lot accomplished.

This is really going to collapse on the commmish's head. No checks and balances = revolt.

So basically, Goodell is trying to keep putting it off in hopes that it will just go away.

Seems like Vilma went there to see if there would be anything different. Saw that there wasn't, so decided not to waste his time.

Why is the NFL being so stubborn with this evidence? If they actually have it, it's laughable that they are treating it this way.

So now my question is....

How will the NFL turn this around to make the players look bad by leaving without anything getting done?

That's just it.

If they have evidence, why not present it and be done with it?

The NFL and Goodell were trying to work on the appeal after reconvening wanting to display all 6 million pages of evidence. They just needed the break to go run to their car to grab it. The bounty hunters wanted no part and left while punching small children in the face and pushing over old people in wheel chairs along the way out.

By saying that Goodell wanted to continue but they refused and left I'm sure. He really wanted to get it resolved but they just wouldn't listen.
