1) Marcus Mariota- really comes down to if he would accept non top tier backup monies to come here to learn from Drew for a year.
2) Chase Daniels- the bro comradery w drew and taysom would be off the chains.
3) Blake Bortles- has started a lot of games in the league. Could be servicable enough for a short stint if needed.

One guy you didn't mention is Chase Daniel. Likely cheap, knows the system, allows you to still aggressively utilize Taysom in non-qb roles on gameday.

Why do we need these bums when we have the next great thing in TayTay?

You spend a late round pic or UDFA for your third QB bench warmer and hope you strike gold with it.

It will be an interesting offseason for QBs. There will be a lot of free agents and a bunch of draft picks.

Likely available vet QBs just off the top of my head.

Marcus Mariota
Jameis Winston
R. Fitzpatrick
Andy Dalton?
Case Kenum
Alex Smith?
Joe Flacco?
Cam Newton?
Teddy Bridgewater
Eli Manning
Chase Daniel
Colt McCoy
Ryan Tannehill

And guys like Brees, Brady, Rivers & Dak are all free agents this offseason.

From another thread on Mariota.

Does anyone else feel like it’s Groundhog Day on this board? I may literally just cut and paste responses from other threads from now on.

because while Drew is still playing and we're going to be aggressive with the use of Taysom Hill in a semi dual system and using him in other facets of the offense, we need to have a competent qb in the room.

You mean a 3rd competent QB that won't come from the draft.

None

Taysom as the #2

Draft Jalen Hurts (3rd round or even try to get back into the 2nd round if he's available at a spot and you don't think he'll last till the 3rd.

If Hill is the QB of the future IMO they are not going to try to turn him into pocket passer. SP and Co will change the offense to suit Hills talents. Having said that, I think they bring in a guy that may back Hill up in the future that can fit into the system they build around Hill.

Will it work, That's the big question.

Having another QB that knows the system would be beneficial. When Brees isn’t in Hill’s ear, Daniel could be.

Wouldn’t mind getting a guy like Josh Mccown on staff either

If staff have in their head that Taysom is likely going to be the heir, then i don't want to be investing time and staff resources into developing a rookie qb. I just don't think we need to go out of our way for a qb in the draft.

I think Chase Daniel is almost a certainty to come back to be the game day #2 QB so Taysom cam remained somewhat involved in his utility role with the understanding of anything were to happen to Drew it would really be Taysom starting over Daniel. He will still get a nice $3-5 million contract to hold a clipboard though so everyone wins.

Do you want to limit his role in the offense?

they want to think they have such a gotcha moment cause i think Taysom is a capable heir to Drew.

Is it possible to keep Bridgewater with our cap money? Cause I wouldn't take any of those over Teddy.

We will see if anyone bites on that 1st round tender for Hill.

With Brees coming back I hope someone does. Could get two impact players in the first round.

lets just dream for a second...

we already paying drew and teddy dead monies of 25 mill.

add drew for another year at 25-28 mill
add teddy for another 8-12 mill
add taysom for another 5 mill

you're smoking crack.

Teddy is ready for a big check that we can not write. We can possibly hold Taysom with a first round tender. If not we draft a QB at our 24 and a wr at New Englands' 23.

frick no on chase, i was a big fan of him getting a chance but he seemed to have lost any skill he once had while he was here as our backup QB

maybe its because he has just given up wanting to be a starter and has a DGAF aura around him all the time
