I have no idea where they’re going to pull all the money from, but we’ll have to deal with the salary cap issue next year, not 2022. We have to extend a lot of people over the next 2 years. I do like that if we sign cook and Quinn/Ansah we have a ton of options.

I think we could resign Williams for cheap as our slot back up (he played better at the end of the season). And I’d like to sign another veteran LB and S.

I don’t think that WR is a major priority for us as much as everyone thinks. We have a lot of young guys who can take the next step and hopefully Meredith comes back into form. If cook signs it’s would help this a lot. Ginn is getting up there in age so eventually we’ll need another speedster, but we’ll have a full load of picks next year to fill the need.

I’d like to see us move up in this years draft and sign an OT if possible. Then next year we can fill a ton of needs with our first 4 picks in the draft.

might be the front office mindset, but the best we can do is 17-0

roger will rig the conference game again to prevent us from ever getting to the SB again as long as he is there

Let me help you-

This is the year we win the SB or bust. Brees is likely retiring and we're cashing in all our chips for this season. Let's be real- we aren't winning a SB with Teddy Bridgewater so I really don't care how much we give away in draft picks to make this final run. Once Mike Thomas and Kamara come off their rookie deals we're in cap hell anyhow and no way this team stays together.

frick it- I'll take a few 6-10 seasons for a ring in 2019.

Agreed on all. It's clear they're going all in for this season. I want another ring so badly.

Only we haven’t really made any moves like this at all. We’ve signed some young players entering their primes on reasonable deals, a pretty cheap Ingram replacement, and a position of dire need. We’ve drafted well and we took a big risk last year to draft a very young, raw, potentially elite in the future edge rusher. We’re making solid moves for now AND the future.

The all in narrative is created by this board.

Current cap space: Nearly 18 million in cap right now.
2020 cap space: 92 million
2021 cap space: 142 million

As long as the FO plans everything out well & makes smart decisions...we can win a SB in 2019 & be a playoff team in 2020.

The FO making stupid decisions could put us at 6-10 for a 2-3 years though.

Hopefully our FO has their shite together.

Yes

Win now mode would have been trading for Brown or Beckham. We’re going about things very wisely

Other than Brees cap hit next year (and potentially the year after if it’s broken into 2 years) we’re pretty good position to continue to be successful. I think Teddy could definitely take this team to a super bowl, a lot worse qbs have done it, and we still dont know teddy’s true potential. If he signs a reasonable contract next off season it will lighten the load of Brees’ cap hit.

We definitely won’t be able to resign everyone but we’re in a great place to draft replacements next year, and once we shed Brees cap hit in the year to follow we’ll be fully prepared to make another splash in the FA market. That plus the constant increase in cap space on a yearly basis.

Saints are going all in. Nothing will be able to stop them next year. (Except the refs). Cook is going to ball in the Saints offense.

Now bring Bushrod back to be the swing tackle unless they feel good about the draft. Bushrod actually looked pretty solid last year even at his age.

Bushrod visited the Dolphins recently. I'm not sure if the FO wants him, b/c I would think he would've accepted a 1 year deal for vet minimum to stay in NO.

I'm not positive about this, but it's just the feeling that I get. We definitely need a solid swing tackle though. I'd rather sign a vet F.A. than draft one in 2019.

Bushrod is done. I doubt he makes a roster this season.

I'm excited to see Teddy in action with the starters. People seem to forget because he sat that the last year he played, (his second season in the league) he made the pro bowl. So I think he's a lot better than people are giving credit for.

He more than held his own lastcyear when Armstead went down. We could do a lot worse than him as the backup tackle.

You don’t want to rely on a rookie if Armstead goes down in a Super Bowl run season. Better to have an older, slower Bushrod that knows the offense than an untested kid. He only made $1 million last year too and we have to be up against the cap now if the Cook signing is true.

Bushrod & LeRibeus are 2 guys that we still might bring back. Both should be vet minimum type contracts as well.

Personally, I don't have problem with Bushrod. He doesn't move around like he used to, but he's a solid backup & doesn't lose the game for you.

Agree about not wanting a rookie backup tackle. It might work out if we use our 2nd rounder on an OT, but I'd rather use our 2nd on another position. Drafting an OT in the 5th-7th round & expecting him to be ready in 2019 is about as dumb as it gets.
