I think he was very serviceable the first couple games after Terron went down, but fell off drastically.

I think Armstead was rushed back for the Pitt game because Bushrod was about done for.

I don't see why everyone is enamored with Cook. Of course the Saints do not have a TE. After ten years in the league, his stats are unimpressive. Although last year was his best statistically, so he's going downhill soon. He has no upside.

It’s not just about stats. He was a slow developer but has always been talented. Between playing with awful QBs and in systems that didn’t utilize him he has rarely stood a chance. Even at his current age he’ll be the fastest TE we’ve had in years. He played a lot of slot as well over the years. He’s an absolutely perfect fit for what this offense is missing

It’s the Jimmy Graham effect and most of our fanbase still has it.

Jared Cook has arguably had the worst QB situation of any player in the league. His first 7 years in Tennessee and St. Louis was total shite at QB and coaching.

His last 3 with competent QB play and play calling have been more than solid.

On a horrendously bad team.

Now picture him with Brees and Thomas and kamara et al

Very simple, because TE is the biggest need on the team and because he’s way better than any TE we have.

Naw. Our offense has been at its best when the TE is a threat

People said the same when we signed Ben Watson. Uber athletic TE who was never really featured in the right offense. Ho hum signing to most

Set career highs here in receptions, yards and TDs at age 35. Expect the same from cook. He was the only threat in Oakland and still had a career year

Jeff Fisher-Vince Young/Kerry Collins
Jeff Fisher- Vince Young/Kerry Collins
Mike Munchak- Matt Hasselbeck
Mike Munchak- Matt Hasselbeck/Jake Locker
Jeff Fisher- Kellen Clemens/Sam Bradford
Jeff Fisher- Austin Davis/Shaun Hill
Jeff Fisher- Nick Foles/Case Keenum

That’s what Cook dealt with for most of his career

He's always flashed, but never put anything consistent together until last season. To me, that's a byproduct of the mediocre QB play he's had.

Even if he isn't a top tier TE, he's shown that he is talented, and Brees has shown that he can elevate the play of even an average TE/WR.

TE is a position that had to be addressed this off-season, and, sure, we could draft one, but that position rarely sees a noticeable impact from a rookie. And we need the impact to be felt ASAP, with Brees nearing the end.

Cook is without a doubt our best option, and I don't see how anybody can argue that.
