To be fair the offense wasn’t tailored to him at all. He and Brees were about as opposite as you can get. He’d thrive in something like what the Ravens run.

Sure, but that’s the plan after 3 games when he’s done for the season?

He's coming back from an acl and not cleared to play and has thrown almost zero passes the last five years. Hmmmmmmm

I’m with you. He would be better than these three mamalukes we got. He should have been the QB after Brees aged out.

Let it go dude.
Every Taysom Hill pass attempt 2018-2020

You can look at these time stamps for each pass attempt greater than 20 yards

0:49: 39 yard pass severely underthrown to Thomas against the Vikings that should have been a TD with a decently thrown ball instead of sliding come back catch at the 13
2:25: 46 yard pass severely underthrown to Ginn that gets picked off by Steelers
3:05: 31 yard pass perfectly placed to Kamara against Eagles
4:55: 34 yard underthrown pass incomplete on fake punt against Niners
6:10: 50 yard severely underthrown pass complete to Deonte Hardy against the Vikings that should have been a TD

This was from 5 years ago, and arms do not get better with age. Especially when practicing as a TE and not and not working on mechanics to improve as passer.

He 100% should have been the starter after Brees retired.

One of my favorite ever and if we had a chance to be decent this year, I would say keep him to help us in the 2nd half of the season but he’s older and injured. Might be a good time to move on. I never had an issue with his salary (when healthy) because we could get flexible with who we activated on Sunday. He freed us up on Sundays to carry extra O-linemen, or extra WR,DB whatever because we could go with one less FB, TE, QB, special teamer when he was active.

Nope . He had an opportinity to develop under Payton . Brees helped him . He is NOT a starting NFL QB . Hard worker , great guy … a wildcat QB . Now older and coming off an injury . In the twilight of his career .

I was with you a few years ago, but I gotta agree that that ship has sailed. Whether he wasn’t good enough or he had the misfortune to have Dennis Allen as his head coach is a worthy debate.

Still, he’s best suited to his current role at this point.

Nah. The fact that he’s still there with the new coaching staff shows that they see something in him they like. He’s an asset. If one of our top 2 get hurt, I think they like him as a cheap backup. (The cap plays a part in this, veteran backups are expensive. If we can have 3 all on super cheap deals, that’s one way to help “cheat” our cap situation).

I don’t think there’s any way he can beat out Rattler or Shough at this point this season, but they’re gonna play him in hopes he plays well, and maybe somebody gets hurt and we can pick up a 4th or 5th round draft pick for a team that needs a cheap backup.

Is there another QB on this team who has a winning record as an NFL starting QB?
