so we will follow the path of denial like the jets, giants, and browns, mediocracy just striving each year to reach 9-8 records is the new norm

We're a QB and WR away from making a huge run. It's been that way for the last 3 years.

Those teams were never good, that’s a terrible comparison.

This is what I'm worried about honestly. Keep kicking the can without a great coach OR Qb. Then you're REALLY fricked.

I’d look to do a bit of a harder retooling year or two.

I don’t get this mentality. Would rather be mediocre in the present to avoid maybe being bad at some point in the future? Hell maybe if you eventually have a bad season it will be one with a franchise QB in the draft

Not enough people are talking about the fact that Brady is talking retirement for the first time. He's even gone as far to post reflective statements about the team. At best, he has 1 more year left.

None of the teams in the division seems to have a clear path going forward. I expect Arians to bolt not to long after Brady goes. Really anyones division the next couple of years

You don’t sacrifice the crap out of future to fight your arse off to hover at .500

What does “sacrificing the crap out of the future” mean in this context?

To me “sacrificing the crap out of the future” would be giving away years worth of draft picks in bad trades (see Texans, Houston) but other wise it’s just money. It’s not like if you’re $74M over at one point you have to be $74M under later. So yeah I don’t it.

Well cap money matters. I’m sorry your amazed with our ability to push cap down road to barely get under threshold but we’re continuing to have more holes to fill than we do monies.

These frickers are going to spend lady Bensons money and leave this shite like a sand castle in a rising tide. Two years until Jacksonville level club.

I thought this was a very well put together team this year. Just a crazy amount of injures/Covid

We almost scratched out a double digit win season with the depleted roster we had. We do need another WR. I think we could make it to the playoffs with Winston but I don't see him as the eventual franchise Q.B. We may be hard pressed to get a Wilson with Payton's exit.

Going to have to draft a qb now.
You could move up from 18 this year and get one.

So? Do you want to sacrifice the present to avoid maybe being bad i the future? If you draft well it can even out. You still haven’t explained what your fear is, do think if the holes get so big they can’t ever recover? Like you have to spend years rebuilding?

You guys really have no idea how this stuff works do ya? This post reads like you think there’s a finite amount of cap money and once is gone it’s gone.

But feel free to explain why Jacksonville is where they are due to past cap issues? Also notice they have a potential franchise QB

I’ll say it over and over again. Tearing it down is always a terrible idea. You frick it up and you end up like the Browns, Jags, Giants, Jets.

Winning in the NFL is about culture and organizational cohesion from top to bottom.

The Steelers, Packers, and Patriots don’t do this shite and we shouldn’t either. Stay competitive. You can continue to work on the roster through smart personnel decisions and drafting well. If you can’t do those, well you were fricked anyways.

Ding ding ding we have a winner.
The Patriots were strapped after a run with 3 SB wins and another appearance. That’s part of the reason Brady left, they couldn’t bring in any weapons for him, they went gasp 7-9 last year and then back in the playoffs

Yep. Agreed. Saints don’t have to rebuild necessarily and just think if a certain QB decides to hang them up then the South becomes wide open and I love our franchises chances to win the division considering how stable Sean left this place.
