It would mean a death penalty so I doubt it.

Any free agent that want to sign with New Orleans could easily eat for free every night at one of many world class restaurants, for what it’s worth.

I’ve always wondered why a NFL team owner didn’t offer a QB who’s proven some ownership shares at a deep discount once they retire....

Like we could say hey drew we’ll give you 20m worth of ownership if you take a 10m discount in salary

Pretty sure Jerry Jones pays bonuses in the form of lap dances and lawyers - not sure how that calculates into the salary cap.

Because that's circumventing the CBA, and if it's not on paper signed, it doesn't mean diddly.

It wouldn't surprise me if some teams don't throw in some under the table perks. Free housing, kids tuition to private school, free car usage, prearranged endorsement deals etc, etc. obviously nothing earth shattering but could sway a player if deals are close.

No. Why risk your $1B franchise over a player?

Owners would never do it. That would be against their own best interest. Everyone would do it and it would be like raising the cap.

The 49ers got away with it for years.

They got caught and nothing happened to them.

Think the 9ers and Broncos. They lost like a 5th round pick or some small crap like that

Not sure what the 9ers did, but all the Broncos did was try to defer when a bonus was paid for accounting purposes (it still would have been paid, but they would have gotten to delay it), and they lost a 3rd rounder for it.

If you actually tried to straight up pay a player under the table it would be much worse.

And yes they will get caught because they can audit a player's money intake if something seems shady (like if a QB obviously takes much less than market value). Hard to hid millions under the table. Even if they don't get caught initially, when they eventually do the punishment will be severe.

When The Band joined up with Ronnie Hawkins he told them something like, ‘I can’t pay you much, but you’ll get more pussy than Frank Sinatra.’

Lol Brees probably gave the Saints an extra 100-150 million in value at least
