How'd we make it to page 2 without this GOAT gif about QBs?

Still can't believe some posters thought we made a mistake by passing on Sanders to draft Shough.

Shough played 7 years of college football an in only 1 did have even remotely decent production (he was the 4th or 5th rated passer...in the ACC). Take off the hindsight glasses. There was very valid reason to be skeptical. I think every Saints fan is happy that skepticism, thus far in a small sample size, has proven to be unwarranted.

I am not wearing hindsight glasses. The skepticism of Shough was entirely justified. The love and unquestioning belief that Shedeur would be a better qb than him by some of the fanbase is what I am talking about.

It wasn’t though. He played that long because of a collarbone injury that didn’t heal, re-injured the same one and a freak broken lower leg bone.

Kellen Moore handpicked him and people who know ball in the industry said Shough was going to be great

So even if one wasn't skeptical of the lack of production, there was reason to be skeptical because of the lengthy injury history. 7 years of college with a significant injury history and one year of above average production doesn't exactly scream "future franchise QB". Thus far he has proven the skeptics wrong...but that doesn't mean there wasn't a justifiable basis to be skeptical before he played in an NFL game.

It's not a knock on Shough. More of a retort to those arguing that skepticism of Shough when he was drafted was "stupid".

lengthy injury history.

this is such a clown talking point

I already pointed out they’re bone breaks, one to repair the first collar bone that wasn’t repaired in the first place. Literally nothing is concerning about that

I think it was a huge gamble that early in the 2nd. It was a Hail Mary by Loomis with 2 seconds on the clock that went for a td. He even looked below average in the pre season. I give a lot of credit to Moore for his rapid progression.

So the only reason he played 7 years was because of injury...yet that somehow doesn't equate to a lengthy injury history?

So nothing concerning about playing 7 fricking years in college? He should be Dr Shough by now. He’s like two years younger than Lamar Jackson who’s been in the league 7 years…

There is nothing concerning about three bone breaks, at all. That’s just bad luck

If he had torn his labrum or something, you might have a point.

How did Darnold do his first few years in the league? It’s actually a check mark in the pro column that he’s older and more experienced

Lol. You quoted me the other day saying how Louis Riddick was super high on Shough and I linked you an interview after the drafts first day with him going off on the teams that passed on Shedeur in the first. He had him ranked higher than Shough.

True but you could say Darnold dominated in college, he won awards and was first team all conference. He was a bona fide first round talent.

For alot of qbs, team fit, the offense, the organization, coaching, the surrounding cast, all matter in their success.
