Has this been posted? Man, that’s dumb. Joe Burrow got a 34, Love got a 27, Herbert got a 25. Surprised Herbert didn’t score higher. I know Deshaun Watson had a similar score, but Tua is not nearly the athlete that Watson is - projected by scouts to run a 4.9. Also on Tua and his Wonderlic:
quote:

the lowest score at the position. “We interviewed him,” said one scout. “He’s smart enough, but he’s an RPO guy. (Steve) Sarkisian (Alabama’s new coordinator in 2019) tried to do pro stuff and he (Tagovailoa) couldn’t handle it mentally because all he’d ever done was RPO stuff. So they went back to RPO.”

Plus this:
quote:

Tua experienced at least a 15% dropoff in ball placement under every single context I use to measure quarterbacks.
Beyond first read: -19.9%
Out of pocket: -35.5%
Adjusted platform: -23.9%
Move platform: -37.5%
Pressured: -24.8%
Into tight window: -15.0%

Add to that, the kid is fragile AF.

I’m jumping off the Tua train and starting to think Saints should pass on this dude even if he falls to 24. That is a hell of a lot of red flags.

If he’s at 24 there is zero chance we pass.

That's like the NFL equivalent of scoring an 11 on your ACT

If Sean doesn't think he's a good or smart enough QB for his complicated system, then he will pass.

If you had your choice between Tua or Love who do you want?

Great way to slide to a better team and loose a ton of money.

If Trubisky gets traded, do you think he is worth a shot if we gave up a future 3rd or 4 th?

Wondering if some team is putting this info out on Tua in hopes of him falling.

Intelligence imo is the most important part of the qb position. This Wonderlic test really isn’t the end all be all though. Some players don’t even take it seriously. Guys such as terry bradahaw, Dan Marino, Jimmy Kelly all scored around the same as tua. There’s plenty of qbs who have scored high on the test and have been absolutely horrible. The RPO quote is alarming though. I honestly wouldn’t pass on the kid especially if he’s there at 24.

I’ve always been of the opinion that Tua was incredibly overrated. Which means he will probably turn out to be the GOAT.

I'm sure I'll get blasted for saying it, but you kind of wonder if this is a little bit of a Todd Marinovich type of situation. Though certainly not to the extreme that guys nut job father took it, we've seen/heard stories about how tough Tua's dad was on him to become a great QB. Does Tua really love football? Or is something he "loves" because he doesn't want to disappoint his family, particularly his father?

The great QB's seem to all share a similar trait. An almost maniacal competitive instinct, combine with just a true LOVE of the game and competing. Brees loves it. Brady loves it. Manning loved it. Farve loved it. And they all flat out loved competing. Not so much because their dad's made them love the game. But because THEY loved the game.

Burrow seems to have that trait, which is why I think he will be successful.

On the other hand, Tua comes across from the outside as a quiet, respectful and well meaning kid. But maybe not one who absolutely LOVES football as much as one who wants to be a good kid and not disappoint his family.

Where did you get this from?

Not going to lie I like Love a little more than I did yesterday.

I could be completely wrong on this, but I don’t get the Tua hype. He has a quick release and a good arm. But I don’t see the accuracy everyone talks about. His windows are typically huge and he seems to throw behind people IMO. When there is tight coverage, he seems to falter a little.

I remember watching Drew Brees at Purdue. He was throwing darts in tight coverage. The Mannings were slinging balls into tight spots all through college. Cam Newton seemed really accurate at Auburn. Tua has good tools, I just don’t see the accuracy. I just see a left handed Mark Sanchez or Matt Lenient.

100% on the same page. I’ve never gotten it. I think he was a great college QB but don’t see the translation long term to the NFL. At all.

I can only think of one all time great QB with a shitty Wonderlic and that’s Dan Marino.

Aka the wonderlic is useless

if Tua drops, Saints take him, sit him for a year and let him continue to heal, and then have him ready when its his time.

I saw an interesting tweet the other day, and wish i would have saved it but it went something like

________________(insert 2 perceived injury prone college QBs coming out, i forget who they were) has been a stalwarts for health in the NFL, while perceived sturdy college QBs with no injury history such as Andrew Luck & Cam Newton have had their careers decimated by injury.

You dont really know.

Tua would be great in the Saints quick pass offense. Good deep ball thrower too.
