How was Penning’s penalties in college? I’m assuming he had this same nasty streak and I’m wondering if he’s someone who can control his emotions during the game.

Penalties and attitude, specifically after the snap, were some of his issues.

Remember how happy the Giants were with the effects Shockey had on their offense for acting exactly this way and doing exactly these things. They said he brought a toughness, nastiness and a missing edge to their offense. I like it

During a game, when Penning causes a defender to get a 15 yard penalty, the "locker room" is going to love Penning.
Penning's issue seems to be he treats his defensive teammates the same way he treats opposing teammates. That will cause some issue now but will blow over when we start hitting other jerseys.

If a teammate punches you in practice then you absolutely strike him back. In a game that is different because there is real penalties. My coach in college would have ran me if a defensive player would have punched me and I didn’t do anything about it. Then he also would have ran the rest of the line if they didn’t jump in and help. That goes for everyone on the offensive side of the ball. If defense wanted to fight one of us they were fighting all of us. We don’t start fights but we finish them

On none of the occasions did Penning do anything wrong. Looked like regular hard blocking up to the whistle.
In every instance it was the Defense instigating, throwing punches, and being little bitches in general.
In my opinion, DA needs to get on his defenders, not Penning.
1 dude full on punched him and Penning gave a half hearted shove/light punch back and then the dude full on punched him again and Penning did not respond.
