With guys like E Griffen only pulling a 6th round pick. Also Dunlap on the trade block. Do the Saints think we’re set at pass rusher? I don’t get it. Every week we say Cam isn’t getting sacks and Davenport just started playing. Do we think giving up a late round pick is not the right move? Because during draft days we surely love giving up picks.

Dunlap is on a 3/40 mill. I think next year is the last year on the contract. Not sure if they can make it work or if he’s worth that amount. I haven’t followed him close enough this year.

I may be in the minority here but I think we are good at d line. Would much rather a better safety or some o line depth. Maybe another LB.

Our safety play has def been bad at times but a secondary is only as good as its front 4. If you don’t get pressure you’re secondary is going to suck. I think our dline is phenomenal but the lack of pass rush is cause for concern and is def part of our issues in our secondary.

We look very good at D line.

Since we are into reunions with resigning Jenkins maybe the Saints could trade for Cooks. All of his guaranteed money has been paid so he has no cap hit if we cut him next year. Would be good insurance considering WR has been very inconsistent with health all year.

Looking like offense gets better every week, so I’m not concerned about putting up points. Sanders will be back next week, and the Mike T situation will either result in some bonus picks for us, or he’ll come back and ball. Our defense just never seems to get off the field. Knowing Payton, idk how you can just be content with our defense mid season. We need a playmaker (pass rusher or safety) to make a splash and get the juices flowing again

I would sign Earl Thomas to the practice squad.

See what he can do for a few weeks and then make a decision.

Two teams players have went to their coaches and management saying they didn’t want Earl Thomas. I’d prefer to keep away something like that especially with where things have been the last few weeks

I don't remember hearing anything like this when he was in Seattle. All I remember was him saying he wanted to go to Dallas.

I did hear this reported from his time in Baltimore. Sorry, no link (because I am too lazy to look it up), but I do remember ESPN reporting it.

at one point earlier in the season I would have disagreed.... but now, it's time... the Bucs getting Antonio Brown in addition, the Panthers getting McCaffery back, and not to mention we are on the outside looking in for the playoffs and, honestly, we've looked weaker than the comparative competion...

I'd actually be ok with Earl Thomas if he would sign for vet league minimum or close to it. Just cut him if he starts acting up & causing division within the team.

I wouldn't say we are on the outside looking in for the playoffs though.

Packers - 5-1
Seahawks - 5-1
Buccaneers 5-2
Eagles 2-4-1
--------------
Bears 5-2
Cards 5-2
Rams 5-2
Saints 4-2
49ers 4-3

We're right in the thick of the Wildcard race unless we lose to the Bears. You'll be 100% right if that happens though. We NEED to beat the Bears on Sunday, or our chances of getting a Wildcard will greatly be reduced. We won't be out of it, but it won't be looking good.

I don't really want to trade for a TE, but I'd actually be ok with this.

Spotrac His cap # this year won't be a problem at all. We would just have to pay half of his base salary (about 1 million).

They exercised his 5th year option at 6 mil for 2021, but we can just cut him with no dead money if he doesn't work out. Jared Cook also isn't under contract in 2021 as well.

I'd do it if the price was just a late round pick (5th-7th rounder). Not sure I'd give up a 4th though.

Not that I want to give up a 4th, but I believe Evan Engram is worth a 4th rounder. I think he has that potential in our system. The reason why I don't know if he's worth a 4th to us is it all depends on what we have Trautman. He has not done much yet, but he seems to have potential.

You sure pace yourself

Pass rushers worth a damn are incredibly expensive.

We have a top five rushing DL so I would be careful to mess with that.

Rankins is not yet back to his old pass rushing skill set so that could help a bit if he keeps improving.

What is not good is Allen and his schemes to get a fifth pass rusher on the QB. Its like everyone in the league has figured his sh!t out.

He isn't gonna get back, not this year IMHO. Back to Back years of rehab over an achilles injury.

But what can happen: Cam needs to get back to his elite play and Davenport needs to stay healthy
