Top 101 Players for 2012......

Earlier, we told you about New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees being included on a list of America’s most influential athletes. Well, it looks like Brees doesn’t have as much influence with one group.
That’s the fine folks over at Pro Football Focus, who compiled a list of the league’s top 101 players. They have Brees at No. 79.
Brees as the 79th best player in the NFL? I have to respectfully dispute that. I know 2012 wasn’t his best season, but I think this guy belongs in any list of the top 10 (at very least top 20) players in the game.
But I think the rest of the NFC South players on the list came in at just about the right spots. Here they are: •No. 17 Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan
•No. 20 Tampa Bay defensive tackle Gerald McCoy
•No. 27 Tampa Bay receiver Vincent Jackson
•No. 44 Atlanta tight end Tony Gonzalez
•No. 49 Atlanta receiver Roddy White
•No. 69 Carolina defensive end Charles Johnson
•No. 73 Atlanta wide receiver Julio Jones
•No. 82 Tampa Bay linebacker Lavonte David
•No. 86 Carolina defensive end Greg Hardy
•No. 88 Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin
I think Tampa Bay cornerback Darrelle Revis, Carolina center Ryan Kalil and Tampa Bay guard Carl Nicks also belong on any list of top players, but they all missed most of last season with injuries. I’d say Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly, Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, New Orleans tight end Jimmy Graham and New Orleans guard Jahri Evans also belong on the list.
All this has me thinking ahead to my NFC South top 25 list that I’m planning to run when I take time off this summer. I’ve already started working on the list. It isn’t finalized yet, but I can assure you Brees is going to come in with a much higher ranking.

Just thought I'd share a list that the wonderful fans of Falcon-land decided to create and mask it as the Pro Football Focus Top 101 Players of 2012.

Yeah, in an off year he still threw for a measly 5k yards

You guys kill me. Let me help.
Matt Ryan had an OVERALL better QB year (for 2012) than Drew Brees did. I don't care that Drew threw for 5k+ yards, just like most of y'all don't want to hear about his INT count. Stats can be skewed to either argument.
That being said, I think Drew should be higher than #79 but I still stand by my comment that Matt Ryan (again, for the reading impaired - 2012 ONLY) should still be higher than Drew. This doesn't mean that the article/list was created by a Falcons fan. Just means some of y'all need to watch MORE than just Saints football.

Make no mistake, generally speaking, the media/everyone outside of Louisiana, HATE the Saints. They rarely ever get any love. Who gives a frick though? Rankings and shite like that don't account for anything. Man I can't wait til we skull frick some folks this year now that we are done with this bounty-gate bullshite.

As much as it pains me to agree...

PFF uses straight stats.
They don't editorialize.
Look, without Payton, Brees' stats just weren't so spectacular.
It happens.

I only lurk the ST now, but I just had to give you credit for that post.

Thanks.
You should post more, Jcorye1.
I feel like we have to throw a jab at Tom Terrific or Belichick to draw you out these days.

So breaking the most consecutive games with a pass td.......with two interim coaches.......playing one of the toughest schedules.......even his down years, Brees is at least 10 spots higher than Ryan on any list.
I know, I shouldn't get worked up over a list that went by performance and team record for one year, but to see ppl actually buy into ryan bein better than brees makes me realize ..............the end of the world is upon us folks.

So if we call Tampa Bay and tell him we'd do Brees for Vincent Jackson straight up if they could make the numbers work, I'm supposed to believe they'd turn that down?

They had russell wilson in the top 25
It is based solely on how well your team does, not even how well your side of the ball does, but the team as a whole. the saints having a historically bad defense, and still winning 7 games is indicative of how good drew and the offense was.

I'm sorry, Matt Bryant should be there, not Matt Ryan. That guy iced more regular season games (and your ONLY post-season win, I might add) than Matty Ice. The guy is a flake. Drew Brees would not let any playoff game clock read 0:00 4Q, Giants 24, Saints 2. End of story.
This whole thing is just raw statistics being taken out of context. Here's one for you. Matt Ryan has won one playoff game in his career. So did Aaron Brooks. Congratulations, the future of this great franchise is in the hands of Aaron Brooks.
Its....
magic!

Complete fricking joke. Should be banned from football and man cards immediately removed.

The fact they do this every year is dumb anyway. Who cares how this list changes year to year. The fact they do this every year tells me they really have nothing better to do, and nothing better to fill the time slot(s).

jesus guys - its for 2012 only. should Brees be rated as low as 79, no - but he shouldn't be higher than players that had a far more successful season than him - even if it is Matty Ice.
sometimes you guys need to look beyond the tinted glasses and be objective.

For 2012, Matt Ryan had a better year than Drew Brees. End. Of. Story.
You can get as mad as you want and take cheap shots at the Falcons and blah blah blah. Still doesn't diminish this as a fact. I'll keep saying it too - since I'm right.
