I agree with you 100%. Can't add anything to that.

Well you already showed you had no idea what you are talking about earlier in this thread.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement for SunTiger

Wow. The point is that we consistently spend the entire salary cap.

Sean Payton is also the second highest paid coach

Never been afraid to open up checkbook and pay players.
This.

One of the biggest myths against Benson has been him being cheap with player salaries.

Anyone who has ever leveled that charge is an uninformed douche.

Owners don't play. The only owners that should grt ANY credit are in leagues without hard caps.

Love when morons state their opinions as fact. LOVE IT.

Anyway that's just my opinion.
Everybody's entitled to have one.

Regardless of how misguided it is.

The Saints All-Time record with Benson as owner is 239-224 and 7-9 in playoffs, 1 Super Bowl Victory, and 10 playoff appearances. Prior to Benson 78-176-5 and 0 playoff appearances.

Could he be one of the best/most overlooked owners in the game? I think so.

There are times when the numbers lie.

This is a perfect example.

The Saints won a Super Bowl despite Tom Benson, not because of him.

We can have fun with numbers/statistics....

From 1993 to 2005 inclusive, 13 total seasons, the Saints went to the playoffs ONE TIME.

One playoff appearance in 13 years. Right dead smack in the middle of the Tom Benson ownership reign.

That has to be as bad or worse a stretch for a team/owner in the NFL since Benson bought the franchise, or darn near close to it.

And he wanted to move the team out of New Orleans in 2005 and the NFL/Paul Tagliabue stopped him.

That FACT must NEVER be forgotten, regardless of how many rings we end up with.

The body of work doesn't lie. You can spin that argument by saying the Saints went to the playoffs "inclusive" 4 times from 1985 to 1994 and 5 times from 2006 to 2013 for a grand total of 9 times in 16 seasons.

It's the body of work that's impressive, especially for a franchise that had been synonymous with losing. I'm almost positive that if you polled both fans of the Saints and other football fans many would be surprised by that overall record.

To be clear I'm not overlooking the Katrina aftermath, I'm just stating the football facts. Whether true/warranted or not Benson will always have to deal with that stigma in the Katrina aftermath.

frick benson, its all drew brees-he plays so good wooo.......well actually it's more about payton, he should get all the credit - he calls those plays that allow brees to be awesome yay........actually, loomis is the man,he signed payton so that he could write up plays for brees to play really well...

the guy that hired loomis that hired payton that makes plays for brees, frick him; I'll shove my perpendicular argument up your arse if you disagree too.

Totally irrelevant ad hominem. You know your argument is weak when you resort to ad hominem attacks.
