If this is Brees' last year, I would rather a Guard and get a FA WR. Only Colston and Thomas have excelled in this offense as rookies.

Brandin Cooks had like 53 receptions, 550 yards and 3 Tds. Not bad either.

But I really want Brandon Aiyuk, the WR from Arizona State.

I think Higgins is a better prospect than Jefferson, but his ability to stay healthy concerns me.

Higgins may be one of the very few wr's i'm intrigued with late in the first.

I could get on board what that. This is a good class we should land a solid pick at number 24.

I would rather go Jefferson. I think he has the higher floor and will be more productive earlier which we need. I think Higgins has a higher ceiling but more bust potential. I would rather go with the safer bet in our current situation. Jefferson should be able to contribute immediately in our offense.

Honest question, when was the last time the Saints drafted even remotely in the same direction as the mocks predicted? They always seem to come up with a name straight out of left field on draft day.

I mean I don’t disagree with the idea but there is no guards worth a first this year so it doesn’t really work like that

Saints aren't drafting a WR in the 1st. This is like the 6 year stretch of mocks giving us a pass rusher and always striking out. Just because a position is a glaring need does not mean we select at that position. We always go value, and we will this time as well. With so much depth at WR, I doubt that will be what's selected.

the fact we have interest in Jamie Collins makes me wonder about some of the LB's possibly available late first.

He was a top 15 projection. He was never expected to be there in the 20s for us.

Vacarro was an accurate selection. I think Rankins fell to us, so he was not mocked to us neither. I could be misremembering though.

Literally every mock draft that year had us taking Rankings at 12 that year

I think it means they recognize we are thin at the position and are trying to solidify it prior to the draft. Their MO every year is to use FA to fill slots so that they can use the draft to select the highest value. They try to go into the draft with no glaring needs, although they aren't always successful at that.

Looking at this PFF draft rankings (not mock), I see DL and CBs there where we are picking. I think these or an OT will be the most likely selection. All three are positions of high value, and that's what you want to focus on in the first round.

Let's not forget that Thomas was a 2nd round selection. WRs are found after the first.

That's why I said I could be misremembering; I wasn't sure about that one. I must be confusing this draft with the one in which Lattimore fell to us.

I am on the fence about drafting a WR in the first...But I keep thinking that if Thomas had gone down last season we would have been screwed..
