The year they had a 10 point lead on the Bears with 2 minutes left and lost. Distinctly remember kicking something at work. Good thing I had steel toe shoes on.

That was the first game I ever went to. My dad and I took one of his friends and the friend was ready to go. 2 minutes left and we had the ball. My dad agreed so we left. It took us about ten minutes into the post game show for us to realize we lost that fricking game.

I think that was 1988? We would have been 8-0.

I'm 38 and I went to school in a time when everyone was a fricking 49ers bandwagon a-hole. That shite was hard. It led to several middle school fist fights. Losing to the Vikings in the playoffs back in '88 was extremely harsh. The rest of the playoff losses were understandably easier after that.

That was 1991. Yep, we would have been 8-0 had the Bears not beat us. I think it was a pretty close game too. We lost our WR Floyd Turner in that game too with a broken leg, if I remember correctly. That season ended painfully with a playoff loss to none other than the Atlanta Falcons. So we had won our division for the first time, then lost to our biggest division rival in the playoffs. Typical in those days.

Then several 'OMGs' with my hands on my head. Then staring incomprehensibly as the TV screen score changed from '24' to '30.'

This was exactly my reaction.

I kept waiting for Rod Serling or Professor Marvel to walk out and say "Gotcha!"

Well put. Speaking as one of the old codgers around here, when you've been through that much pain, the victory is that much sweeter. I was there when the Falcons' first Hail Mary beat the Saints on the last play. That had to be the worst for me.

Those were some bad times. I still can't believe we won the Super Bowl. I still call my father every other day and scream "Pop, we won the Super Bowl!!!"

Ive been a fan for 33. When I was a baby my mom would sat me in front of the TV when the Saint were playing ,it was the only thing that would shut me up.Shes always been a big fan. Its been along time coming. There were some bright spots though The Dome Patrol for instance even though we didnt win alot then everybody was scared of our D. And I still love Dalton Hillard and Bobby(The Cajun Cannon)Hebert. But anyway thanks man

You're right! there's no deserving one more than another. I think the oldies are just trying express the depth of it. As I posted earlier, just imagine if the Saints started as a franchise 19 years ago. Nineteen years and they still don't even break .500 That probably couldn't even happen now cuz such a franchise would be moved. I lived in LA and I lived in the far NW then. I coulda switched allegiance and no one would have known or questioned. Once you're indoctrinated a Who Dat though there is no escaping. Kinda like how ya can pick your friends but you are stuck with your family. it's always been Saints for me. Even when there was no other Saint fan in an area that I knew of. The pain, the tears, the frustration, the aggravation, the digust, it was all worth it. It all seems like another era now. I feel proud that I never gave up hope. I hoped many times but this year I predicted THIS would be the one. Even sweeter is there is no reason for the saints to now not be the dominant franchise of this decade. I've pointed it out often but to those who have never looked check out the Steelers first 40 years. You probably know what they've done the last 40. That kinda change is what I think we are witnessing.

u alright, kid, but you can be prepared to take some hits from others sayin you kissin arse. don't let that bother you, it's the norm, but back in the day I would turn the game off at halftime because I knew the Saints was fixin to play like shite and blow the game. You should be glad you weren't around in those days.

Thanks for getting it!

I'm a 30 year fan and 39 years old. I cried too when we won. My wife finally understood the passion I have for the Saints. Remember Tim Couch throwing a bomb for a completion and a touchdown and win? That fu@#$%^ killed me. Ditka falling on the turf!

As long as I have waited, I'm happier for the fans who never gave up on the Saints!

WHO DAT !!!! SUPERBOWL CHAMPS!!!
