For starters I'm a Tiger before a Saint so a bad Sunday doesn't hurt as much as a bad Saturday. Over the yrs I've watched my fellow Tiger die hards jump on and off of the wagon. Praising solid players like Mett just to destroy him 7 days later. I'm shocked and disappointed to see Saints fans stoop to this level of disrespect! Starting threads about his family and being concerned with the next QB coming in 4 games into this season. I'm guessing that you are all 15-20 yrs old and spoiled as shite to this not so old winning franchise that is the Saints. RELAX and STF up! Im pretty sure that Criticism is accepted by Brees and Co. but to question his ability the way that you all are doing is pretty sick. The man has given you something that your team, city, STATE could have never dreamed of!!!!! A fricking legend! A first ballot HFer, record breaker, and just stand up leader which is somthing that we all know is havrd to find in today's pro sports. Bitch about the D, the offense, It not coming together just yet, or the coaching. Hell bitch about Brees BUT be realistic or find another team/QB to pull for. The guys still has plenty of fuel left in the tank and when he does run out deserves to ride off into the NOLA sunset one of our most beloved. Not criticized and made into a hack because he's human and can't give you 300 yards a game forever! Trust this you little bastards, the chances of a Payton to Luck or Favre to Rodgers are almost unrealistic. SOO, enjoy and be critical but not to a point of betrayal or disrespect!!! That is all.....

Excellent reply there Byron!?!
I think he was right on. Brees helped take
us from the Aint's to something that has
been a respectable team. How many teams Byron
do you think would take Brees? Think about your
reply before you just say shut up.

Agreed on everything that Breed has given us. But his past greatness is not an excuse for his current mediocrity. He also seems to be less "hungry"

Brees is a good QB and future HoF. Having said that, he peaked in 2011 IMO and so did this team. We are a shell of our Super Bowl team and that is squarely on Loomis.

If Brees had some decent WRs it would help him a lot. I've noticed especially the last two seasons that he has to be pinpoint accurate and our YAC (wrs only) seams to be non existent. They just don't get any separation.

Holy shite Yall guys are drunk. Brees has nothing to do with our struggles. It's not having a consistent running game or his big time WR dropping 2-3 balls a game or not getting open. He missed maybe 2 throws last night out of 45....The pick and maybe one more. He dude still plays on a high high level and if u can't see that, your just plain blind. Look around the league. There is maybe 4-6 QB looking the same or better.grow up with the BS.

Never had elite arm strength to begin with. Always was more about timing
losing some of the little he had has taken its tool imo

Jw get that emotional shite out of here. His balls all night were late. They have been that way all year. A couple out routes where the reciever is waiting for the the ball to never get there. The defensive back has all day ro break on the ball, which happened a couple times. Along the sideline to cooks and Graham they had to come back to the ball. Its plays like that where it is clear as day

7td for brees in 4 games lol.

What is his percentage down field?

How many 3 and outs? Stalled drives? Points off costly turnovers?

Unfortunately knowing the game involves more than the stats you post

Is he still a top tier qb? Yes

But you can question his performance and the way he is throwing the ball

I love Drew, he is the greatest Saint of all-time. I hope he and his wife stay in the area and be the Mannings 2.0 of New Orleans. But we need to start the process of replacing him. Maybe it's Griffin maybe not but I wouldn't have a problem drafting a QB with I high pick in the 2016 draft.

That's almost 2 TDs per game. Is it his best? No, but look at how dreadful we are playing at the LOS on both sides of the ball. The only game where we COULD run the ball was Atlanta, and for some brilliant reason we simply did not. Is that Brees' fault? As far as I know he isn't the OC.

Again, multiple factors here. Bad protection, receivers dropping passes, absolute garbage in offensive coordination.

quote:

How many 3 and outs? Stalled drives?

Can't run it up the middle, the ball can't remain in the backfield longer than "One Mississippi" so stretch plays don't work, and Brees has to throw early or under duress. The Saints are a backfield intensive team, meaning they require a clean pocket for throwing down-field and good perimeter blocking to allow for plays from the HB out of the backfield. Have you seen ANY of that this year? If you did, change the channel because you aren't watching the Saints this year.

Points off costly turnovers?

Are you seriously bringing up that pick six against the Browns? It's been discussed to the point of projectile vomiting that Brees threw a catchable (but high) ball to Graham, who did not even touch the ball. The safety happened to be in the perfect position to make a play. Roman Harper could have made that pick.

Now, the original post was riddled with typos, bad grammar, and diluted points. However, he is spot on about Brees. The one person on this offense that is still playing some recognizable form of football is Drew Brees. The coaching has been the most disappointing thing this year - the team looks flat out, physically and mentally weak. A running back walking into the end zone, Romo ripping off yards on scrambles, 300 and 400 pound linemen being pushed around like strawmen. This team is soft, poorly-coached, and lacking in key areas - but at least we have a quarterback.

Points off of turnovers isn't just pick sixs. Its when you give other team extra possession and they put points on board...which I know you understand.

I am not in anyway putting this years struggles solely on Brees's shoulders. I just see a decline in his throwing ability.

Perhaps this explains your innate need to criticize fans for criticizing players.

You may know, though you wouldn't from watching the games this year, that the Saints are professionals. Not a single one of them is immune from criticism. I freaking love Drew, think he is one of the best QBs I have ever watched and appreciate everything he has done for this team and city. But he doesn't deserve special treatment - in fact he is man enough to openly discuss his own shortcomings so why should fans be barred from discussing them? I have never been one to call Drew out because as poor as some of his decisions have been this year, I don't think any of those were the reason for our losses. However, many of the criticisms posted are fair and its asinine to categorically take issue with them.
