you're being a short sighted homer. watch any close game. you'll see what I mean.

we turned it over 5 times giving them the ball inside the 10 TWICE.

Inexcusable really

Our offensive line played like Atlanta's instead of one with 3 probowlers
What ticked me off about this the most is that SF was able to get pressure on Brees with only rushing 4 people sometimes because of great coverage but also because they just dominated our O-line. SF was able to get pressure on Brees bring very few people while sitting back defending our pass threat. They also were able to defend our receivers well even when hardly sitting anyone back and bringing a blitz. They did well bringing 3 or even bringing 5 or more.
It was frustrating to see them do well at both coverage and getting QB pressure at the same time.

Brees threw the ball over 60 fricking times...there was 0 threat of the run game to keep the SF pass rush honest.
I can excuse this. Our passing game has won us plenty of games and we are confident in it. Just like last season when we beat the Steelers you simply can't run on them. We gave up trying and beat them with the pass. Today we gave up in part because we lost PT, because we were behind for so long, and because simply it wasn't working and they were solid against the run.

Guess we'd better go out and get that #1 seed next season. Seems like that's the only way we're getting back to the SB.

Yeah I was only partially joking around with friends after the game when I said we needed to finish the regular season undefeated to get the #1 seed

Good lord there are some dense arse fricking people in here.
I keep reading this, but can't find the posts claiming there is one single reason for the loss. Could you link the dense arse frickers that said there's one single reason they lost?

We lost because fricking Gregg Williams decided to put 6 defenders on the line of scrimmage when San Francisco was on their own 35 yard line with 45 seconds left, when they had been doing nothing put throwing short passes in the middle of the field.
Just fricking rush four and make Alex Smith beat you. In that situation, worst comes to worst and they kick a field goal to force overtime.
frick.
Yes, this isn't the only reason we lost. But I felt like we had a retard with a coloring book directing our defense on that last drive.

Jenkins got picked on, I think he was s real weak link yesterday. But really it was those turnovers that provided the margin.

They out hustlsed us.
In the 1st half our D saved us from a butt kicking. They just could not save us from the loss. Williams D has saved us before but played soft and missed oppertunities at the end. What a ride...
In the 2nd half our O gave us a chance, but put the D behind the ball in the 1st.
What a game, that's why it is played on the field and not on computers...
Hope we can get some beast defensive personal this off season to create and recover turnovers...

he is WAYYY more to blame than Williams. Williams didnt ask him to do anything he shouldn't be able to do.
We got the matchup we wanted there. It wasn't Shanle or Harper on Davis....we had the guy we wanted and he fricked sucked. The scheme wasn't the issue.

It's a team loss not just the d, the d dint throw a damn near pick 6, the d didn't fumble on the return like Sproles and roby, they did however give up big plays to VD. That many turnovers is Why we lost. A few were made by their d but 3 of them imo were flukes, roby Sproles and what's the chances Thomas gets ko'ed. Take even a few of those back and we win. And DB had many times he had all day to throw just no open receivers.

so, it took them 45 seconds to go 20 yards? they had the ball with like 1:33 left....then we let them go 65 yards in 45 seconds. i think i am gonna puke again. of course maybe they felt that way with our drive with graham's TD(we drove the field in a few plays totaling 45 seconds i believe) also but our offense is much better than frisco's.

SF showed how to play great defense in today's NFL. With the rules favoring the offense there is no way you're stopping guys like Brees, Brady, Rodgers, etc every time. You have to make their life uncomfortable, tackle well, make drives stall, and create a few opportunities to get turnovers.
This
The 2 worst defenses in the league this year are the #1 seeds in both divisions. No need to play lights out. Just disrupt things and get turnovers. Kinda like us in 2009
