The two minute kickoff was one of the most important plays of the game.

Couldn’t hear the broadcast so I don’t know if it was discussed but Kellen completely out coached Harbough (Special Teams Guru) in this scenario.

For context;
Giants cut the lead to 7 with 2:05 remaining. They decide to kickoff. Instead of booting it out of the end zone, the Saints return it for 30 yards and six seconds, resulting in an ineffective two minute warning.

no, it wasn't a coaching decision issue

Harbaugh tried to kick it out of the endzone and the kicker didn't make it

incorrect.

he could have kicked it out of bounds and value the 2 minute warning over 15 yards on the field.

I was so worried that we wouldn't be smart enough to run that out but glad we did.

Also, listening on the radio broadcast, Deuce was fuming over the fact that the Giants kept stopping the clock when it should have been running on their previous drive.

Yes... Amin & Brees did say how smart it was that the Saints returned it & took the clock past the 2:00 warning

Brees talked about it twice on the broadcast and gave the Saints credit.

Brees also said twice that when the Giants were down 10, they should have kicked the field goal as soon as in range, rather then running more plays. He said they could have had a minute or more time left at the end of the game if they did kick as soon as in range.

We call that a coaching decision

The decision in and of itself wasn't the problem. It was a good call if you have a competent kicker

Now if he knew the kicker couldn't kick it out of the back based on some evidence you might have a point. But that isn't the case

Kicker's fault as usual

I mean it was 6.5 yards into end zone nearly. Asking for a guaranteed out endzone kick may be too much

Brees was pretty on top of it yesterday calling out the game management at the end.

It also made me laugh how blunt he was about the giants blocking in the back penalties.

This doesn't make any sense. With the new kickoff rules, kicking it out the back of the End zone puts the ball on the 35. That's only 5 yards difference from kicking it out of bounds. In an outdoor stadium where wind could effect how deep the kick goes, kicking it out of bounds would be the safer decision if you want to preserve time.

I was rolling when he flat out said they were “idiotic”. I was like “Damn Drew, tell us how you really feel ”.

I like when he is blunt like that

Brees was right that they should have immediately kicked the field goal on the Nabers long catch. Their mistake cost them a full minute at the end of the game.

Think the Saints could have just taken the 5 yards and made them re-kick.

So, that wouldn't have been a smart decision.

My son and I looked at each other and shared a good laugh. I dont we have ever heard an NFL announcer say, "that was idiotic"

I thought Brees did a great job in both games he called for us. He got genuinely happy when we actually ran some play action like he suggested.
