This was back when Buddy D. was alive and he did his radio shows on WWL radio. You can easily apply this conversation to what is wrong with the Saints today. Mickey Loomis is even brought up/

R.I.P. Buddy D. His shows were awesome. Now you got this Cajun Cannon.

—either that, or he’s got a heck of a cell phone connection

He had his squirrels that would call in, The callers definitely knew how to push his buttons. There are rumors Tom Benson once left him at the airport tarmac.

Not Tom Benson but John Mecom

The best was when they called Buddy Hap (Glaudi) who years before had the show. For a while, Buddy just humored the mistaken caller, but after a while he started to get pissed saying “Hap Glaudi’s been dead for 5 years. Either you’re trying to pull my chain or you’re on Mars.”
Buddy always had a temper and a big ego. Sometimes that served him well (not backing down when questioning horrendous Saints decisions), and sometimes it made him look like a petulant child.
Buddy wasn’t perfect but he was light years ahead of the yes men NFL stooges out there now. We probably won’t see his kind again, and that is a shame.

Great stuff and more relevant now than ever.

I'm surprised no one calls up radio or HTM as Morgus.

Thanks for posting this
Man lots of good memories riding back home from the camp with my dad after we hunted that morning listening to WWL Saints pregame programs and Buddy D. He had a commercial on air during breaks at that time (late 90s/very early 2000s) advertising something, Big Shot Cola maybe, and can still hear him saying “Hey! It’s me! Buddy D!”
