WITF did we pick a DB? with our track record? So is payton saying PJ is better than any G, WR, or DT he could find at that pick?

Stick with free agency where we have a GOOD track record with greer, lewis and browner. he better get a WR who can come in and snag the 3rd spot. HE better grab collins too. low risk high reward at this point late in the draft.

One word to describe this template is SAFE. One word to describe what this draft was not is FLASHY. I believe the Saints front office knew they had better get this draft right having 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. The way they have selected picks was to not waste any on a player that was high risk/high reward. After getting over not getting a flashy player, I'm starting to like this draft a little more. If we can get a WR who can contribute early, we have players who will be solid contributors to the team.

For once I agree with you. All the morons bitching about our picks simple have no clue as to what they are talking about. We have drafted alot of great guys and great athletes. Wish we would've taken a WR by now but there's still some diamonds in the rough out there (Tre McBride, Dezmin Lewis, Deontay Greenberry, Jesse James)

Over all I give us a B+ so far. Within the next 3 years all three of our first 3 picks will be Pro Bowlers. I feel better about this draft than I have about our drafts in quit some time. All the fake arm chair GMs on here who think they know better than the people who turned this franchise from a perennial suck fest to constant true competitor need to wake the frick up and realize that your fatass in on the couch while these guys are making draft picks for a reason.

We still need a guard, but we can get a serviceable one in the fifth, use Lelito, move Strief inside, or trade one of our current Tackles for one. Our O-line and overall Offense will be much improved.

We also picked up a very good ILB, and a good OLB & CB, which we needed. The draft could be over right now and our team would still be in contention for a playoff run. With another potential WR, G, D-lineman, etc. we are in good shape and have done well with this years draft for getting the BPA and filling needs.

Exactly!!

I think Lelito may be better than we give him credit for. He was way better than Goody when he came in last year. So they may have more confidence that he's the guy than we know.

Do you like the draft or do you just want to gripe about those who don't? Because it seems more like the latter with you and some others here.

How about, you can be a passionate Saints fan, know quite a bit about football, and still think that the Saints missed on some real areas of need?

Here is my thing: I didn't want to draft for the future. I wanted a draft that would pay major dividends for the next 3 years which meant getting a Guard who can start, a stud WR, and an ILB. We got ONE of what I was hoping for in 5 picks in the first 3 rounds.

Now, I don't need people telling me that I am not the GM and that I don't know what I'm talking about. I get it. But, with a few additions, THIS team with Drew could still compete for the next few years. Drafting for the future was not at all what I thought we should do, especially since there are only 15 players on the entire roster that we drafted. We suck at the draft.

How about Nick O'Leary from Florida State? Getting a solid TE couldn't hurt
