Do you like the draft or do you just want to gripe about those who don't? Because it seems more like the latter with you and some others here.

I think the draft has been great so you are wrong.

quote:

Here is my thing: I didn't want to draft for the future. I wanted a draft that would pay major dividends for the next 3 years which meant getting a Guard who can start, a stud WR, and an ILB. We got ONE of what I was hoping for in 5 picks in the first 3 rounds.

The only pick that we made for the future was Grayson. The rest can contribute immediately. Lelito may be more ready to start than anyone is giving him credit for and Strief may move inside with Peat at tackle for all we know. That's the thing we don't know.

quote:

Now, I don't need people telling me that I am not the GM and that I don't know what I'm talking about. I get it. But, with a few additions, THIS team with Drew could still compete for the next few years. Drafting for the future was not at all what I thought we should do, especially since there are only 15 players on the entire roster that we drafted. We suck at the draft.

What gives you the implication that we are not trying to win now? That makes no sense at all. Right now with the guys on our roster we are set to go 11-5, 12-4. Nothing about this draft says that we are just looking to the future and giving up on right now.

As bad as we were last year, we were RIGHT there in most of our losses. Just having a serviceable offensive line could have tipped any of those games with the exception of the cowboys and that second Carolina suck fest.

Having a better secondary, which we do now.... And a better linebacker corps, which we do now, would have swung the Detroit game at the very least.

Your problem is you assumed we only needed a G, a WR, and a ILB to pay major dividends. We barely need a G, but we also needed an OLB/Edge rusheR and help at CB and the D-line. We didn't get flashy players but we got solid contributors and more players then using picks to trade up like if you were the GM, which thank God you are not.

Ask anyone that knows about the NFL and they will tell you, drafting best available, compared to need will benefit any franchise much more long term. You can never have enough good lineman on either side of the ball.

There are way too many posters and fans that think a lot of rookies can come in an be pro-bowlers in year 1. That having been said there are many that can come in and contribute. But you do not reach on guys high in the draft, based on a 1 year need. Too many people would rather go all in for one year than become a franchise that competes year in and year out.

As sad as it sounds under CSP and Loomis, a certain % our fanbase has become spoiled into thinking we should win a super every year. Really like the draft choices, and as many have stated nobody knows anything about this draft until atleast 3 years from now. I believe one thing that has really changed a lot of fans perception of the WR's in this draft is directly due to last years success of so many early on. That was a once in a decade type of WR draft class.

All the fake arm chair GMs on here who think they know better than the people who turned this franchise from a perennial suck fest to constant true competitor need to wake the frick up and realize that your fatass in on the couch while these guys are making draft picks for a reason.

umm cus they took a chance on one player and if saban and co werent idiots he wouldnt have came here. They didnt get good by playing it safe, they got good by getting aggressive and taking chances on players.

Im still trying to figure out how a qb is going to help us get into the play offs. Something we couldnt do last year in the worst division in the the nfl.
