A top 5 drafted QB has a massive bust rate. Imagine a mid round one. It’s like throwing a pick away.

I don’t mind it, but only after we’ve exhausted all efforts to get one of these talented veterans.

Not to mention Sean had him handcuffed with the playcalling early on. It wasn't until they dropped two of the first games (Panthers and Giants, btw) did Sean decide to throw it mor

And the crazy thing that no one will consider is was Payton holding Winston back, or was Payton masking what we had at the WR position hoping MT would be able to make it back.

it's cute that you think anyone who matters in the Saints front office cares about winning. it'll take as long to win the second super bowl as the first.

Payton didn’t trust him. WTF does that tell you?

Winston was 5-2 with Payton being ultra conservative.

Isn't Hill something like 5-1 and Bridgewater 6-0 under Payton?

Not really a big bragging point.

Saw this and immediately thought of this thread. A lot of the talking heads are implying that this draft looks more like 2013 than it does 2012.

With this logic, we’ll be in the same position that the Jets were in. Take a QB that has been hyped for the draft in the 1st round and wind up drafting a more talented QB the 2-3 years Later. With the roster the Saints have, the team should look at trade options and free agency. Finally, draft/sign offensive talent on the outside and make the situation more attractive to guys like Watson (maybe), Wilson or Rodgers.

Stupid take, no QB in this draft is better than Jameis…

We have some of the smartest fans but also some of the dumbest! You have to be smoking crack to think any of these QB in this next draft will be franchise QB or even better than Winston. This draft is filled with a bunch of project type guys. This team with Winston is just a few players away from being a legit playoff team.

Compare their passer ratings and QBR now. Winston was playing well without Thomas

Doesn’t matter. Got to take a chance on someone instead of just accepting the status quo of mediocrity.
How long have you worked for the Browns/Jags/Lions or other plethora of bad teams? Saints are a playoff team. If there is not a true no1 QB there, you go BPA or need, and you load up your roster. Winston was a Heisman winner and no1 overall pick. He is also proven to a degree and can get it done with our championship caliber defense whose window is closing. You 100% do not reach for a QB here.

Jameis isn't winning a Superbowl, but you think Carson Strong or Sam Howell is the answer?

When Howell was in a pass first offense, he was considered the Best QB in this year’s draft. Last season UNC decided to move to a read option offense because of the lost of their best WRs. Howell’s strengths were not on display with that weird decision by the UNC coaching staff. Howell and Willis are probably the best suited for 1st round consideration.

Why in the frick would an organization throw away a ton of draft capital on a player who could retire at anytime? To me, it's insanity to even consider giving away such capital for a player like Rodgers only to have him walk away in a year or two.

Seattle is now putting out there they want 3 1st rounders just as a starting point to negotiations for Wilson. Talking about trading for established veteran QBs is nice but the cost to do business is extremely high & will damage your roster long term because of the cost.

You won't get an honest answer to that because it crushes their uneducated & biased arguments.
