Everyone with half a brain knows Famous Jameis ain’t winning a Super Bowl for the Saints. QB play is the name of the game in the modern NFL. You can’t afford to accept mediocre QB play and wallow in mediocrity for years without end. You can’t win a Super Bowl with a QB as inconsistent as Jameis. We might win some games with him, but no one cares how many games you win or how many times you make the playoffs. All that matters is the Super Bowl.

It’s critical that we use our first round pick on a QB every other year until we get it right and strike gold. My choice would be either Kenny Pickett or Sam Howell this year.

Saints needed to draft a QB the last 4 years. For some reason they never did

They were trying to win now at all costs in Drew Bree’s final years. Now we’re paying the price for that.

I don't see anyone in the 2022 draft who would clearly be better than Jameis.

Doesn’t matter. Got to take a chance on someone instead of just accepting the status quo of mediocrity.

Jameis is MUCH closer to the Mahomes/Burrow/Stafford/Allen end of the spectrum than anyone in this draft ever will be.

2 years of elite offensive coaching under Payton might be enough to push him over the edge. Playing with a turnstile at C/G and 4 pickup game WRs last year, he looked better than he ever did in Tampa. Fixing the middle of the line and getting MT13 back is enough to make him a legitimate threat to win the division and go deep in the playoffs.

Except he was WAY better than mediocre last season despite having a bunch of scrubs for weapons.

This QB draft class is pedestrian. Everyone has said as much. Winston was 5-2 with Payton being ultra conservative. Winston is a #1 overall pick with experience in the NFL. He’s a better option than any QB in the draft. We need another WR and a better TE. Probably need a new OT too.

Scouts are saying no QBs in this draft would have a first round grade in a normal year

If Ian Book were in this year’s draft, where would he be picked?

There are no Joe Burrow's or Justin Herbert's in this draft. If the Saints continue to run a similar offense with Pete Carmichael, the QB shall require familiarity with that system.

They drafted one QB in each of the last two drafts. They're not worth a crap but I'm just pointing out they have.

Not to mention Sean had him handcuffed with the playcalling early on. It wasn't until they dropped two of the first games (Panthers and Giants, btw) did Sean decide to throw it more.

Jameis had 86 total pass attempts thru 4 gms. at that point.

Who would we have drafted?

The last good QB we had a reasonable shot at drafting was Mahomes and the chiefs jumped us.
