The Saints can’t let themselves get beat to finding a young QB like with Mahomes

I love the Saints but I also know change has to happen. The coaching staff needs to go in mass and we are the oldest team in the NFL. We can’t do a full blow up because we kept kicking the can down the road with so many contracts but we need to do what we can to free our cap situation. I hate to say it but I hope we don’t win another game so it puts us in position to take a QB and there’s so way management can retain the current staff. Yes my hope is Jayden Daniels but he would be my pick if he played at Montana or Boise State instead of LSU. He has the arm/legs combo that is better than Lamar Jackson IMO and can be an impactful player like CJ Stroud is for Houston. This is the direction the league is headed to, not guys like Carr.

Jayden is a top 8 lock at this very point imo.

We may actually go after Jayden which would be awesome. The 1 upside to Peyton being gone is we will go after LSU players if they are the best option available.

Daniels won’t be there when we pick.
He’s going as high as 6 now in mocks.

Nobody knows if a QB will be good or not. NOBODY!
If people knew Mahomes was going to be Mahomes, they would have traded two years worth of picks to move up to #1 to pick him. shite, Bryce Young went before Stroud last year. Lots of top 10 QBs fail.
You need a good team, good players and luck out with a QB. Hell, San Diego let Drew Brees walk. Kurt Warner was a back up from the arena league.
“Blowing up” a team only makes you the Cleveland Browns or Jets who are continually drafting high.
I’d rather get a good coach and good offensive line, let Carr play out his contract and find a young heir apparent…like Kansas City did with Alex Smith…and Patrick Mahomes.

Of the hundreds and hundreds of QB's I've seen come out only three I thought were can't miss. P Manning Burrow and Luck.
Had to fix that

When I was younger I thought I knew who was going to be an NFL QB. I absolutely called Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Ben Rothkesburger. I totally whiffed on Heath Shuler, Danny Wuerffe, Kerry Collins, Patrick Ramsey, Tim Couch, etc. etc. etc.

That was my list as well. I normally don't like the traditional "running QB" draft target, but Daniels seems different. His accuracy and leadership pushes him over the line for me. I also think he's the best QB of the draft.

Its funny cause guys get paid millions of dollars to pick the right QBs and barely pick better than the average fan!

I said this years ago when Brees was still good. I said you don't want.to have the problem a forcing to have to get a qb before the saints....well, look like they do now. Struggling to find a qb and forcing the issue ala Carr. The other problem is do you want this new young qb learning from Carmichael?

He’s also not the Mahomes we know a just any where. He had the elite tools, that was obvious but to become elite QB he needed the right situation. If the Bears took him, he’d be more like Detroit Stafford, some big games and great statistical seasons but probably at best 1 and done playoffs a lot of picks and some losing seasons as well. In KC (or NO with Payton) a great coach and offensive system that’s how you get what we’ve seen from Mahomes.

The real problem is that the front office actually still believes they are in a position to make a Super Bowl run. I honestly believe they just think all the pieces just need to come together that they have assembled. Players and coaches.
They’re like an addict that’s not ready to get sober.

Good take, these idiots on here think NFL teams do and/or should tank like basketball.
Your take is the correct take.
These idiots talking about kicking the can down the road, aka the Saints. But theyre so fricking dumb they dont see that tanking is kicking the can down the road. Tanking is iterally giving up a season to go for higher picks, and the hope of future success. Basically the epitome of kicking the can down the road.
