but he is the 100 million dollar man
Why do people always bring this up, but they never bring up Jahri Evans contract? He was made the highest paid guard in the league, and he's been shite this season.
I never heard a word spoken about Brees and $$ when he was getting paid $9 million and performing way beyond that. If you have a problem with what he was paid, blame it on Loomis for not extending him after 2010.

the mistakes he is making are costing us games
THIS.
its not just that he has made mistakes. its that every mistake he makes seems to either be when we are about to score which directly takes points off the board, deep in our own territory which directly leads to opponents points, or they happen late in the game when we are trying to seal the game which gives the opponents a chance to beat us.
i also think the criticism is so harsh because most fans believed we would have an improved, super bowl caliber team. high expectations mixed with sub par performance is a recipe for a fanbase to lash out.

''He's playing at a high level,'' Galette said. ''You can't ask for more as a defense.''
Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis, whose team will have to figure out how to stop Brees on Sunday, laughed out loud when told about fans criticizing and booing Brees last weekend.
''I don't see a guy with declining skills at all,'' Lewis said, adding that he has encouraged his own quarterback Andy Dalton, to emulate Brees' approach to practice and leadership. ''He's what you want.''
Similarly, Saints coach Sean Payton pinned some of Brees' recent lowlights on a combination of failures including pass protection and imprecise route-running.
'nough said.
Exactly!

Brees has the second most picks (10) in the league right now.
He is 10th in passer rating.
Edit: he did have 19 int in 2012 and 22 int in 2010.

quote:This right here. As well as having four late-game leads, yet losing all four of those to Atlanta, Cleveland, Detroit and now San Francisco. This team should be 8-1. They lost those four games by a grand total of 9 points.
They need worry about giving up 50 yards on 4 and 10 not the fans being pissed at brees

I agree he probably will be, but fbHoFers should get criticized for forcing balls into triple coverage and get picked

He's also been pressured 135x (4th most) yet has the 4th least amount of sacks.
How many drives did he save by doing that?

look, just because he has been one of the best players in the league over the past 8-10 seasons doesnt mean he cant be held accountable for his mistakes. holding players accountable for their mistakes doesnt make anyone any less of a fan.
now, i realize that other things factor into it like pass pro and precise route running but at the end of the day, its the guy under center that makes the decisions and the throws and therefore shoulders the criticism.
the fact is that drew has been mistake prone in critical situations. i still love drew and wouldnt have anyone else under center, but facts are facts.

People saying he's done or the decline is clearly hear are being a bit over-reactive, but to ignore his utterly bone-headed and stultifying decision-making thus far this season is a legitimate gripe by fans.
Again, he nearly threw away the Tampa game on his own.
People can whine about the 4th and 10 pass by SF all they want, Brees cost the Saints 10+ points with horrid decisions and that was the difference in the game.
Against Cleveland, he made a poor throw that while not entirely on him, is a throw he should've made more quickly.
Against Atlanta, his pass was a bad read and a bad throw, and was significant in that game.
Dallas game was a straight team loss.
The Detroit game goes entirely back to another utterly stupid throw that should never have happened. The bad play on the previous drive by the defense does not excuse that throw.
In the end, Brees deserves the criticism when he's making horrible reads and throws. Is he entirely responsible? No. Is he done as a QB? No. He has to fix these things though or else this team will be 7-9 at best and may lose the division to either a horrible Carolina or Atlanta team.

Nice rant, not sure why that is directed at me
This is complete bullshite. He threw the ball at the right time when Graham was breaking past the linebacker. It is not his fault that the olineman slipped on his blindside.

I'm really embarrassed that some of you people call yourself Saints fans. Seriously the majority of the morons on here became Saints fans when we got Brees. If you jackasses would have been fans through the Dave Wilson, Billie Joes & Jim Everett years then you would understand how fricking stupid you sound criticizing a first ballot Hall Of Famer like Drew
You forgot Aaron Brooks, Kerry Collins,Danny Wuerffel, Heath Shuler, etc.

Jeff Blake did all the work in 2000. Brooks just came in and stole the show.
And I think it was Wade Wilson.
You left out John Forcade and Steve Walsh

You guys should really just go back to being LSU fans and sucking Les Miles dick and forget about the Saints all together.
With all due respect, those other QB's didn't make 100M tho brah.

What in the frick. He's paid 100 million dollars then basically chokes away games over and over and over then cries because everyone sees it????

I would trade every sack he has saved by underhanding the ball into the line if it reduced his picks by a half. I wish he would just live to fight another day more often.
