The more I hear about Anthony Weaver….

The more he sounds like a Dan Campbell type of hire.
Former player, very intense and inspiring to players, and a culture builder. Not known as a scheme expert.
Campbell inherited a Lions team that had less roster talent than us. He set a culture first. Had rough first two years. As talent was acquired and developed into the culture he created, it became what it is today.
With my Saints colored glasses, I can see a similar trajectory. Weaver is DC w the Dolphins and so he’s seen the Shannahan offense through McDaniel. Probably bring in offensive staff or keep Kubiak for continuity w the Shannahan offense. Thats good for the players.
Plus, he would take the Saints job happily….unlike Vrabel, Johnson, McCarthy, etc. Being a former player I think gives him a leg up on Joe Brady.

A rah rah guy is all good, but it worries me when they don't have the coordinators or stability on either end to maintain.
I think weaver is an underrated DC, but we run into the issue of needing to find an oc. Find one that overachieves and you need to build a tree

Where do we get the talent acquiring GM?

Agreed. They have an owner and GM that is leading the way while Campbell is the rah rah guy. That works for them. Gayle and Loomis ain’t that team. We need someone to lead this organization. That’s what CSP did. That’s what Dennis Allen was incapable of.

Theres nothing wrong with our OC. Fully healthy our offense blew the doors off Carolina and Dallas. Injuries did our O in

Yeah and I’m not saying Weaver isn’t that guy. I just don’t think our structure is there to just bring in a rah rah guy. We need a guy who excels at either management or development, or something

IDK if Weaver is the right guy or not but this type of person is what the Saints need as HC. So far, Weaver and Glenn carry those traits from what's being reported.

Dan Campbell is extremely lucky he's got 2 guys who became elite coordinators and a GM who killed it in the draft.
I wouldn't expect us to be able to copy what they did.

Made a lot of trades to get draft picks, and get talent, we have Mickey and Ireland...no chance

We don’t have a Matt Stafford to trade to get 3 first round picks that all become all pros.
Not only do we not have the picks, but even if we did we don’t have the front office to knock the picks out of the park. As the years go on, it’s become abundantly clear that the 2017 draft was pure luck. Lions have nailed every single draft since hiring Brad Holmes and the guys they brought in have all been studs. We don’t have that kind of structure here so it’s night and day different situation.

so did most offenses
You can give Kubiak and incomplete grade at this point because there's not enough of a sample size one way or the other

I agree, just saying if we go defense minded head coach then I would probably keep Kubiak

That’s for the next HC to decide. As dysfunctional as this organization is, I really hope Loomis doesn’t think we’re right there if the injury bug had not hit.
With Oschner, we’ve had a decade plus of having the most IRs in the league.
Can’t guard Mike is a poster child on how to ruin a career with an ankle tweak.

Already whispers of Kubiak to CLE to be their OC

He’s a pos head case, his ankle isn’t the reason he’s no longer in the league

No we don’t. Give Kubiak some time to settle in with a healthy roster, unless the new coach has his own guy in mind already.

Listening to Russini talk about him on PMT yesterday made me really excited about the possibility of hiring him.
