I did not - I'm actually kicking it today at a coffee shop in my Steve Gleason jersey tee (I do have skinny jeans on tbh)

lutz didnt lose his job it was taken from him. this is definitely a "im the smartest man in the room" move by loomis and co. that will probably not work out as they think.

Kinda trashy to dog the other player, Grupe didn't do anything wrong.

Lutz was a depreciating player.

Saints went with the future.

He was also coming off an injury and had been by all accounts outstanding in camp. You can have your opinion but for me I want my kicker to have been through the fire.

This is Lutz's FG stats in the NFL:

2016 82.40% 20th
2017 86.10% 16th
2018 91.70% 4th
2019 87.20% 9th
2020 80.60% 23rd
2021 Injured
2022 74.20% 32nd

I know he hit some great FGs for the Saint's but he was not exactly lighting up the league every season.

This thread proves that most of you would be shitty GMs

- Lutz was not good last year
- Lutz cost a lot more without being a significant upgrade
- Thank you for all you did Mr. Lootz

We would have definitely lost the divisional round playoff game in Minnesota if not for Wil's TWO game-winning 40+ yard FGs. Both were top 5 FGs in franchise history.

The game in 2017? He made one FG that day. Of course, it looked like the game winner.

But is ONE FG 6 years ago justification to keep a guy who really hasn't been great in 4 years? If that is the case Garrett Hartley should still be kicking for the Saints.

don't banter with Sirwinston - not worth your time and energy. you are debating a mental midget that waffles on his team affiliation, whines like a teenage girl on her 1st period about uniform and field colors, and complains that the Saints don't care about the fans because they do not send surveys like Seattle does.

to engage with her, is to drag yourself into the shite - and it isn't worth it.

Do you think the FO collectively decided they simply hate Will Lutz and decided to "take" his job for no reason whatsoever?

Grupe went 5-6 in the preseason, with the one miss being a 60 yard kick. Preseason, yes. But its not like the Saints just gave the job to a guy who went 1-5 with that one being from 23 yards. Plus, preseason was the only time we, as fans, got to watch the competition. The coaches/FO have observed far more.

Had Denver not wanted to make a trade the Saints probably keep Lutz. But they were offered a pick for him and also the opportunity to save some money that can be spent elsewhere. Lutz had a top 10 salary, but hasn't produced top 10 results in 4 seasons. Some on here are acting like the Saints just traded Justin Tucker

The agent is a SaintsReport.com poster. Probably related to Andrus.

This guy literally has 3 active clients. Lutz, the GB kicker and a punter. Lol even has Lutz as his centerpiece on the site. Dude mad his only cash cow got cut.

I wouldn't hate on him for that - it's pretty impressive to be a major league sports agent, and good for him to carve out a niche market like he has.

Career:
90% from 30-39
82% from 40-49
59% from 50+

But the last 3 years:
93% from 30-39
75% from 40-49
57% from 50+

that gets a little worrisome, even with his ability to knock down some far arse FGs

He didn't get cut, he got traded to a coach that has confidence in him. It's about as good a thing that can happen to a kicker that loses the job in camp.
Lutz should fire him for publicly lashing out. Kicking jobs are fleeting and it's not impossible that in the future Lutz could be out of a job and the Saints could be in need of a kicker.
