Brian Schottenheimer could be a good choice to bring in give the offense side of the ball to. I think he would jump all over it.

Im still not mad at the choice to make DA the coach and try to keep as many pieces in place.
I honestly don’t understand how. DA had an established track record as a loser and his performance has been absolutely on par with his track record. He is who he has always been.

DA winning that Tampa game when Payton had COVID set this franchise back 5 years

Pete Carroll had a losing record before Seattle hired him.
Bill Bellichek had a losing record before New England hired him.

Carroll was 33-31 and had won his division, then succeeded very well at USC before the Seahawks hired him.
Belichick did have a losing record of 36-44 but was still widely considered a very good coach.
Belichick is clearly the exception and not the rule and if the ownership thought they were going to repeat that they’re dumber than previously thought. Oh, and Allen’s record before being hired? 8-28. Not even close to sniffing .500

Need to hire a head coach, not an assistant not up to the task.

Keeping Eric B around for 8 hours just to let him go is embarrassing.
The whole offseason was a comedy of errors
That was done for optics only. They knew they were going DA, but needed to interview minority HCs. If I recall the timing correctly, it also happened shortly after Flores started naming teams in his lawsuit. So they had to make sure it looked legit to avoid being the 3rd (or 4th) team included int he suit.

People are saying we should have hired Pederson but if i recall, at the time, many werent thrilled with that hire either.
I recall him having some mixed feelings/thoughts on this board as well. But the consensus was we really have a shot over Jax, 0 income tax for home games, T-Law was in the building, #1 draft pick, better cap situation...

Me too. He wasn't coming here. He's from NY and waited a year for the Giants
This. That’s his dream job. I can also see Ben Johnson going to the Panthers since he’s from South Carolina. Just down the road.
If we do by some miracle get rid of DA, I think Harbaugh would be the pipe dream but I wouldn’t mind taking a swing at Mike Macdonald or Bobby Slowik

I’d say he’s a dark horse candidate right now. He’ll pick up steam if the Cowboys make a decent run in the playoffs. But I also wonder how much the Cowboys playing well on offense is attributed to him or McCarthy. Isn’t McCarthy calling plays?
The whole situation with him getting fired in Seattle is just weird, though. That whole season was weird. Seattle and Russ are torching the league the first 8-9 weeks and then they became a more average offense. Carroll says he was partly to blame because he wanted Schotty to dial it back some and go to a more intermediate type approach but who knows if that was really the case. Maybe Carroll was lying to protect Schotty. Maybe he was lying to protect Russ.
