In Staley's defense what's the prototype edge guy and prototype DE that would play the 4i, I'm assuming the ends are 275-300. Will Tyree Wilson play the end or out wide in his defense

He'll be an OLB by name.
But the size of these OLB's will very considerably.

Every single DE we had last year was 300+ lbs. The edges will vary, but the lightest you probably want to see is around 245 lbs, and usually not more than 265 lbs. Being that we added guys for edge that were around 255-265 lbs I think that is the range they want to see. Only one heavier was Wilson who had bulked up a bit and was listed at 275 lbs.
Cam was an outlier last year, but he had already slimmed down and was far lighter than our DEs and slightly closer to our edges (he said he was around 280 lbs, and he was our only player in that range on defense, eveyone else being 265 lbs or less or 300 lbs or more).
I think Wilson only plays DE on passing downs (and only sparingly), and is primarily a backup edge more in the mold of Cam. I think people forget how great Cam is at stopping the run, and while Wilson is not the same pass rusher, he can at least fill the run stopping role at edge that Cam did.

Forgotten somewhat but we signed Myles Cole from Jacksonville earlier this offseason. Maybe an edge we can get something out of.

2nd post Ive seen you mention weight like its some end all be all number.
Aaron Donald played DT at 250-260 LBs and is the best DT to ever play.

Yes, Staley should use absolute anomaly's and change the way he approaches the metrics he prefers in his defense.

He chose literally the worst example. Donald was seen as a complete outlier freak athlete who was super strong for his size. There hasn't been a guy like him before or after 20 years on either side.
And he also chose someone who played 3 tech, not nose, in a 4-3, which is not what we played.
It is the weirdest point to try to make.
All I did was literally point to every player that played DE and NT for us last year, and how every single one was 300+ lbs. That is not fabricated. That is fact.

These are the types of post made that clearly show the person doesn't know WTF he is talking about.
Congrats!

Broughton, Miller, & Bresse across the front. Will be nice to see how they develop as a unit. They will definitely eat up some space.

I was wondering about where Miller was likely to play.
At his size, I image him being NT in a 3-4 alignment. Even if he is shaded to one side of the center, I would think he would be main run plugger in the middle with DEs on each side.
I don’t recall exactly where I heard it, but wasn’t it reported that he would be lining up as an i4, so more like a 5-tech DE than a NT. Kind of unexpected,

Loomis said he has versatility and can line up across the line. I think the plan is to start him at NT though, and then move him around more once he becomes comfortable.
