I think we overpaid. Hopefully it works out, but this almost guarantees that Khiry Robinson walks in a year. We're not paying him now.

I'd rather have rolled with Ingram/Pierre/Khiry and spent just a fraction of the Spiller money to re-sign Walker.

Overall, I still like the Spiller move more than the Stills trade which blows imo.

I just went from liking this pickup to hating it. Spiller is not worth that to this team.

Didn't both spiller and PT have around 300 rushing yards last season with Thomas catching a lot more balls. How do these moves make sense?

We're fine cap wise. We can be over until preseason and have plenty of options left to get under if needed.

This is not true. Your top 51 has to be under the cap. After preseason your top 53 plus the practice sqaud players have to be under the cap.

That said, we are still under the cap (not by much, waiting on Ellerbe's numbers).

Spiller is an explosive player. A larger sproles with elite speed.

Spiller is younger. PT is a balanced runner and an elite screen back, but he can't blow by people on a dump off pass like spiller can

quite possibly the dumbest post today. you do realize that stats don't mean shite about the play style of the player right? also you really don't think comparing a RB that was in IR after 4 games to another one that played 10 is an accurate comparison, do you? you're a fool

How much, if any, do we need to save up in case we have 10 new rookies coming in (plus potential udfa, although they are probably not in the top 51 right)?

Seems like I like this move more than most. Spiller can do a lot of things offensively and special teams wise. And he definitely can take it to the house from any where on the field.

Any money udfa's or rookies after the third round make is for league minimum or a little bit more. So if the stick they'll only add a couple of hundred thousand max but likely less(because they are replacing someone else's contract).

Now two first round round going to cost a bit, third rounders not much more than rounds 4-7.

But we'll make the room. Loomis knows what he's doing.

Yeah, I'm not sure I like this move as much now. You just pissed off Ingram for a guy who we hope stays healthy. Do we really need another player moping ala Jimmy? I just don't get why the Saints would pay him more?

So does that mean we just went from having Ingram pound the rock to playing a 50/50 role with Spiller? The whole point of keeping and paying Ingram a nice contract was to make him a feature back, right?

I'm sure Ingram realizes no one in the league considers him to be an elite back. Spiller gives us that big time RB.

With Brees and health, Spiller will shine in this offense. What's best, he won't be asked to be an every down or 20 carry back. He'll be a dangerous complimentary weapon similar to PT, possibly better.

Spiller > Sproles and will be used a ton. You will change your tune once he takes a screen pass for a 70 yard td.

So we're paying him $4.5mm for that? And as mentioned it's more than Ingram is getting. I really like getting Spiller, but not for the price. Ingram is getting $10mm guaranteed, so now you have a pissed off RB who can just mope around and he's sill getting his.

Know who the odd man out is? Khiry.

I see us splitting Spiller wide just like we did with Bush and Sproles. Ingram and him will get the bulk of the playing time, but if Khiry is worth anything on the market I would flip him for something.

Need some back up on the team. How many RB's you want to carry?

Yeldon as my 3rd RB.

Seriously, just because the meltdown would be beautiful.

Kriry is cheap and we got the explosive playmaker in the backfield I was wanting.
If Lorig stinks it up in camp he could be gone and Austin take over with a FB on the P.S..
