I'm always weary of guys who fly up draft boards during this time that you never heard much of anything about during the season.
Now I didn't watch a lot of Big East football so that may be the case. I do know he had a very high pick total last year.

uconn is in the AAC now, and they were pretty bad, like 2-10 and lost to smu bad

This is not true. Your top 51 has to be under the cap. After preseason your top 53 plus the practice sqaud players have to be under the cap.

That said, we are still under the cap (not by much, waiting on Ellerbe's numbers).

How much, if any, do we need to save up in case we have 10 new rookies coming in (plus potential udfa, although they are probably not in the top 51 right)?

Bush <<<<< Spiller

Agreed, but if he goes for 1/4-1/2 the price then it's a different story..

Are we still in cap hell? With everything that's gone down from what I gather we are pretty much even right now for this year but going forward are way under?

Different players. Sproles is explosive , where PT has the balance and grinds for the first down. He isn't really a matchup nightmare speed wise

Oh absolutely. Don't get me wrong I think Spiller is more dangerous compared to PT with a much higher ceiling and also should contribute on ST, but value/production wise I like what PT gave us especially for only 1.5. Although that was also back when we were in cap trouble, which I guess isn't an issue anymore after everything :dunno:

Seeing what reggie bush goes for will be interesting

Spiller's role will be RB/Receiver/KR

very good point, would imagine his role in ST has to explain some of the pricetag
Guaranteed money is what really matters, Ingram got 10

That being said, would rather pierre for the 1.5

Stupid reasoning.

This team will not be successful unless they do a better job drafting, period.

This team needs to go away from older, higher priced guys and started building with young, cheap talent that pans out. We cannot go through this cap craziness every year.

I'm not against getting Mathis, but not for the 44th pick in the draft.

This

I'd go even farther and say nothing higher than our 5th this year if we are taking on that contract.

We have actually done a pretty good job drafting OL in the loomis/payton era, especially in later rounds
You are correct, saw all the talk about moving stills here and got mixed up, back to lurking for me.

I don't believe they would be actively moving stills unless it was for a 2 or higher, just way too much value for what he is on contract for, but they probably are more or less open to listening to offers for anyone on the squad.

I'd rather us stick to drafting OL than in free agency, and not even necessarily in the first few rounds. That seems to be the one postition we consistently do well drafting (Evans, Strief, Bushrod, Nicks, etc. all came 4th rd +)

evans and the 5th for mathis. then draft Collins.

best oline in the league!

So trade a 23 yr old up and coming receiver playing for peanuts AND a draft pick for a 34 year old guard coming off an injury with 12 million still owed...

Umm no thanks, terrible move
