re: Spencer can’t see open WRs

Agreed. He also very rarely leads his receiver for him to get YAC. So even some of his “accurate” passes are inaccurate. He hasn’t done bad at all through these first coupe of games, but he hasn’t done anything special either.

This isn't true. He's throwing the ball before the WR even makes his break.

Usually, what coaches would like to do I'd imagine is have a young QB learn their system in his first year and then develop his skills the next.
Rattler got thrown into the fire with jack shite around him last year. That coaching staff/scheme is gone.
So now he's trying to learn a new system with a new staff. He has more weapons at his disposal and although the sample size is small, I'd say he is doing better than he was last year.
I thought Staley's defense was arse today. For a coach who was on the 49ers staff last year, it felt like he had little to bring to the table for the Saints. His defense was getting picked apart by QB who really had no pressure applied to him all day. Yeah, there was a turnover but there wasn't a lot to hang your hat on for that side of the ball. 49ers offense was missing a few pieces, and it didn't seem to matter.

Spencer rattler is a terrible QB. There were guys running wide open down the field that he didn’t even throw too.
You think Andy Dalton is better than Baker Mayfield.
Forgive me for not listening to a damn thing you have to say.

Meanwhile in reality, 5.3 yards per completion. Very bottom of the league.

I'm convinced you are related to Rattler with how much you go to bat for him in every thread.

Meanwhile he's the best Saints offensive player 2 weeks in a row.

Even if you believe that, it's not saying much at all. By any metric you can find this is a bad offense so far.

No real counterargument. Got it.

It's a fact. Not a belief.

He's 2 games into a new playbook and yall expect him to command this offense like Peyton Manning would. The delusion in this board is retard level. This team sucks, we're bottom 5 teams talent wise and we're pissed we haven't won a game yet against undefeated teams. Can't make this shite up.

That’s what I keep trying to tell prople…..he is limiting the offense. He did improve from week 1 to week 2…..so I think he should definitely get 1-2 more starts for sure. But no matter what you HAVE to see what you have in Shough this season.
In order to really evaluate Shough……you need to give him at least 10 starts this year, that way you can make a better decision on whether or not you need to draft a QB next yr.
It really makes no sense to start Ratttler past week 5 IMO (unless Spencer starts blowing the doors off of course)

quote:What makes it even more frustrating was Kamara did not have control and 2 steps before going to the ground. They literally counted the steps while the ball was still clearly moving.
The Kamara fumble for instance should be partially pinned on Rattler. It was a terrible through on short pass that was behind Alvin. Alvin had to try to make one handed grab, which he did, but gets hit and fumbles
But yes, that play was 100% on Rattler, and even when making completions, way more often than not his placement is horrendous and the receivers are having to make crazy plays or get killed catching it.
Look to the missed td throw behind the receiver earlier in the game, which lead to a missed fg. These types of plays (the "fumble" and missed td throw) are directly what cost you games.

quote:He rarely does that, and when he does he usually puts it behind the receiver or too high. He never leads the receiver into open space.
He's throwing the ball before the WR even makes his break.

Don't worry his snaps are coming.
Posted on 9/17/25 at 5:27 pm to Ancient Astronaut
Rattler is currently playing better than what a fair expectation on him was.
Those who are complaining didn’t have a realistic expectation.

At all. When you average 4 yards per completion, that’s not the future
