What would the incentive be for PArcells?
Legacy wise it does nothing for him win or lose, but if he has a coaching itch at all it's an ideal situation for him. You don't have to commit to multiple years rebuilding a program, just fill in for one year for a contender built using your philosophies.

What would happen after his year is up?

He'd hand the keys back to Sean and thank him for the easy trophy.

According to John Clayton, Payton wants a manager of all the different potential interim head coaches. Carmichael wants to focus on offense. Payton could have just been reaching out to ask Parcells advice on what to do.

As long as the Dome Patrol in their prime comes back with him I'd love it

If all those points are true, then this makes alot of sense and I'd be fully supportive. Parcells is obviously a legendary coach and I believe I saw that recent reports said he was getting that itch to coach again. The man is over 70 so this is the perfect scenario. He just has to run the team while letting his coordinators do their thing and we'll be golden imo

They do realize we have minimum 3 guys who have been head coaches or considered for head coaching gigs already, right?
It's not like we'd be hiring Greg Schiano to coach us...

I was going to edit with a "minus Sam Mills" addendum but I thought it might be too soon

League policy. Gotta interivew a minority if you go outside your current staff for a hire.
I say we piss on that rule too and win another Super Bowl by 'cheating'

I think we might be witnessing the worst and best off season in Saints history.
