Interview Curtis Johnson to meet this requirement. He won't accept because of his job at Tulane but the Saints could make the case that he has full knowledge of the offensive philosophy, players, and staff and therefore would be a viable Interim Candidate.

Who would be the minority candidate that they'd interview?

Not if they hire him as a consultant. Which is one way around that.

Guess Sean worried about getting his job back? What if Carmichael, Kromer or Spags excel: 11-5, playoffs or Super Bowl?
Does Sean get his job back? This way Parcells protects his job security after the suspension.

Why so much chatter about Parcells and nothing about Cowher or Gruden?
I'd take either of the latter as a fill in before Parcells anyday
ETA: Then again..Gruden and Cowher might actually coach again..possibly against one of our division rivals and we cant let them in on what we have going on.....Parcells makes more sense cause he's done with coaching and this would be a temporary job then he can go back to playing golf when Sp returns,.

I don't think that a consultant can be on the field, throw challenge, flags, yell at the officials, and deal with the media. He would have to be hired as Interim HC. The other benefit of Parcells is that he will have instant respect from all of the Players, Coaches, and Front Office.

I like Carmichael as the potential interim HC. I think Spags is too new and it would be weird for him to be the interim coach considering he was just added to the staff as the DC before this all went down.
Parcels would be a nice fit because he could definitely manage the team and should quietly step down after Payton returns from the suspension.

It's like a game of chess. They think they can outmaneuver the Saints, checkmate the Black & Gold.
But then the Saints pull out their "Waterloo Gambit" and turn the tables.

Just relayed Bill Parcells report to Falcons Coach Mike Smith. He was as surprised as everyone else - said Parcells "would bring a lot of experience to our division, that's for sure."
He scared!

Please let this happen!
This honestly couldn't be more perfect. With Payton and Parcells' relationship, u bring him out of retirement to coach one more year then turn it back over to Sean. He lets Spags and Carmichael do their things and manages the players and media. Oh yeah and the guy's a borderline HOF head coach. It's almost too good.
Me thinks Dictator Goodell might put in a word to Parcells though...

I would think that the NFL would be fine with this. If you had a franchise in any business that was not following the corporate rules, wouldn't you exepect that franchise to hire a well respected, proven leader to right the ship?

I didnt' realize the NFL could tell Tom Benson who he can/can't hire. Is Parcells also suspended for some reason?

Nobody said he was going to explicitly tell anyone not to hire him or not to take the job. But a call highly advising against it may have some sway.

From Brian Billick on Twitter:
I don't know he sees it as a Lose/Lose. I think it's a Win/Win. Oh wait, isn't his brother in law the coach the Falcons? Yeah, he's scared and mad. But mostly scared.

@CoachBillick As outlets reporting, don't understand why #Payton would ask #Parcells to coach #Saints...lose/lose situation for both. Strange.
