Losing Sproles and Moore is, what, 140 catches or so per season, on average?

So, who do we get to replace them in the passing game?

We couldn't get guys open last year against the better defenses. WR was a need last year. It is even more of a need now.

Still waiting for Toon to develop? Stills was a nice suprise last year. But, we need someone opposite Colston who can actually get open.

Graham just disappears in big games against solid defenses. We need help there.

The "experts" don't get it. So many think we need a pass rusher despite getting Butler back and being IIRC 4th in sacks last season. We absolutely need to address WR in the first two rounds this draft. Payton supposedly had a great interview with a WR in this draft and I think it was Cooks, who has a good shot at being there at 27.

I'd be stoked with Cooks or a couple other choices at #27. If a BPA CB is there, I can understand that since this is a deep WR class and grab one in the 2nd. But imo, the Saints have to grab a WR within the first 2 rounds.

So, tell me this: How many rookie WRs make a big impact?

Even if we pick one in the late first round, will they make a difference?

The only WRs who really shine the first year are guys like Julio Jones or AJ Green.

WR is one of the hardest positions to really stand out in the first year. RB is one of the easiest.

So, we are putting all of our eggs in draft basket hoping to find a WR in the late first round that will make a big impact in their rookie year?

Ok.

And, I'm the imbecile?

I can give you five from last year alone and two who weren't even 1st rounders.

nuke, patterson, and austin made differences on their teams

1046 yards and 8 TDs says differently: keenan allen

for 1st year players, not as of late. overall very because you either have good vision or you don't

redistribution and play calling are important things. look at what happened to NE last year.

There isn't much else we can do.. The FA market is pretty bare at this point, and to be fair, Jimmy really is pretty much a WR so we have options in the passing game that can take the pressure off of any rookies that we have to play.. Anyone we get, whether in FA or the draft, will be the 4th or 5th option in the passing game most of the time anyways behind Jimmy, Colston, Stills and PT/KR/MI

NE was a mess the first half of last year. It is amazing that they won all that they did.

Historically, WR is one of the most difficult positions to make a huge impact the rookie year. Lots of misses.

Like I said, it happens. But it is really risky. And, with our window closing, I was hoping to see someone who could make an impact right away.

Hopefully the draft will work out. It is just a tough spot to be in.

If the Saints could somehow land Landry in the third round, I'll be happy, happy, happy

I've also been confused by this. Only possible way pass rusher should be a high priority is if we are transitioning to 3-4 full time. In that case, I would like to go after a guy to challenge Butler as a pass rusher. But it's not like guys like Haralson got on the field that much to warrant a high pick at that position.

By the way, your quote is another thing that I said basically word for word a good while ago, and people did not like that. Apparently, a lot of fans think we should go pass rusher early.

Luckily, as much as we need a wr, we don't need that guy to come in and be a star early. Need someone that could develop into a number 1 wr, but that guy just needs to be decent next year.

It does seem odd that we: had an excellent pass rush last year, haven't lost any pieces of that pass rush, and are adding a guy like Butler this season - yet the talking heads still question that element of our defense.

I want this draft to be about playmakers in the receiving unit who can also return punts and kicks. Cooks/Landry/Benjamin/Beckham/Matthews. Just give me a guy who can bust a game open and help take some heat off Jimmy.

It's because they all think we run a straight 3-4. So in their minds, getting a big time guy across from Junior is a must.

I love Juice but his combine times were not that great. We already had WR's last year who couldn't get separation. But yes, if we don't grab a WR in the first 2 rounds I would love it if we grabbed him in the 3rd.

See, often times this is what happens when I argue with people. It's usually a misunderstanding by the person I'm debating.

I never said he was terrible. I said when teams converted first downs on third and longs, usually it was because Lewis was playing off his wr. Then you came in with stats about how good of a tackler he was.

The one thing I did realize was that, while I know what I saw on specific plays, stats are there to show what's happening on the rest of the plays that you aren't seeing. Stats can show Lewis had a good year, yet not prove what I saw on those specific plays was wrong.

Anyway, aren't you the person who once told me to go back to The Rant, then I made you look like a foolish hypocrite when I proved you were like king of the Ranters?

we don't need some to come in and light the world on fire. And your argument is pretty bad

this past year you had

Allen, Stills, Williams, Hopkins,

other guys like

T.Y Hilton, Colston, Greg Jennings, Dez Bryant, Josh Gordon, Torrey Smith, James Jones, Denarius Moore

these are guys who had solid role and good impact in their rookie years.
